this is a very good point that many will try to avoidhe brought back some careers. and? how fukkin long has premiere been keeping careers alive?! what the fukk did people do when they needed that grimey grimey? what did they do when their artists' albums or singles might be saturated with a bunch of soft shiit?
they came to premiere! he was the niqqa that held you down in the streets. you couldn't have an album without a premiere beat. and through all these years the man is still relevant.
can you say the same about jd? whoever said, "damn, i really need jermaine dupri on this album" that wasn't on so so def? i don't give a fukk about his pop singles with mariah, that shiit is irrelevant to this right here.

JD is a R&B/Pop producer who dabbles in hip hop
Primo is hip Hop producer who recently dabbled in R&B/Pop
Both are GREAT at what they do.

'wack' and 'overated' are 2 different things
he is definetly not wack, cuz wack is what group home, pitch black etc sounded like when they are not spittin over primo's beats
overated on the other hand is a subjective thing, so we can argue all day about how 'overated' he is, but i got better things to do than that
aint many mcs who could **** with primo's catalogue, period

Nothing is irrelevant when you talkin' about production skillz...yeah Justin Timberlake can be considered pop but Timbo shouldn't get kudos for lacing him? Same with Jermaine he doesn't get alot of respect for one reason or another but he's done alot more than premo to be honest. Preme can't push somebody to do 5-10 million copies that's just as simple as that. He gave us bangers but at the same time Jermaine gave us hits. It's alot more to being a producer/beatmaker than just giving people the "grimey grimey".

primo isn't overrated IMO but lately he's been living off the props for shyt he did back in the days (although the xtina shyt was banging)
seems like most of his beats since lets say Royce - Hip Hop have been very bland and uninspireing. he always ha a good beat here and there but when is the last time you heard a beat from primo that made you go "OH SHYT". when's the last time you heard a BOOM or Nas is Like or a Kick in the Door. It's one thing to keep it grimey or whatever but at the same time it's possible to reach the next level. it's been a while since primo leveled up. again some of the Xtina stuff is dope (ain't no other ma is a banger) but i want some more of that.

Never said he was overrated I just feel like Jermaine is a very underrated producer and doesn't get the same respect as someone like Preme even though he's had more sucess when working with artists.
Can't front Kartel Jermaine touch is golden his solo sh1t be wack but when he's doing somebody else joint it's crack.

Dupri is the biggest biter like ever.
Even if Primo is doing the same thing over and over at least he is doing HIS thing. This guy bites Puff, Dre, Jay Z it's fukkin' disgraceful!
'The Blueprint' drops what does Dupri call his album 'Instructions'. How corny can u fukkin' get?!

BTW as far as disputing ressurecting careers, guess he could not do too much for Daz on his label since he already went wood, guess he failed there on that label. Primo did some of Christinas new LP which is already what plat? I can't blame him for doing that nor fault him, he did enough already for a lifetime as far as raw sh*t goes, so him getting paid and eating is not that bad nowadays on that sh*t. Guess who won lately?

jermain dupri actually brought back carrers what has premier done?
I understand your point - but I'd say that while JD has brought careers back, Premier has helped jumpstart careers that didn't need such drastic comebacks: Jay-Z, Biggie, Nas, Jeru The Damaja, Guru, etc. Premo has laced soundscapes for MCs that have actually stood the test of time, helping bring new artists to life while still keeping a name for himself, while relatively (not COMPLETELY, but relatively) staying in the background. It should also be noted is that for the most part, these artists have consistently worked with Premo. Plus, Premo's newer work is ill, too - his work with Termanology ("Watch How It Go Down" is one of the best songs of the year), AZ, Royce Da 5'9" (new and old), and even Christina Aguilera is crazy. The joints with Aguilera show a versatility that he hadn't previously displayed. Simply put, I've never seen Premo associate himself with an artist who didn't deserve his services; at the worst, they're underground artists who are still dope, but just don't have mainstream exposure.
While I respect Jermaine Dupri's talent and his hustle, he seems to have just as many duds as superstars. He put out TLC, Usher and Mariah Carey, who are all incredible; but Da Brat (as talented as she is) quickly progressed from femme fatale to Surreal Life hussie, Xscape is nowhere to be found these days (unless I'm just not looking hard enough), and he's also introduced the rap world to laughables like Kriss Kross (yeah, that was my **** back then  , but where are they now?), Bone Crusher, Bow Wow, Dem Franchise Boyz, and J-Kwon. I've read that he worked with Run DMC and Whodini, but I don't know how much music he's done with them, so I can't speak on that.
As far as the ability to really make a buck, I'll give that to Jermaine Dupri, cuz homie has hustled his way to the top. And he's talented as well, I respect that as well. But as far as catalog and reputation, I'll have to go with Premo.
