i just started taking fiber pills. i've noticed like 30 mins after i take the pill if i eat i fill fuller than normal. seems like using fiber could help you eat less and lose weight. why isn't this talked about more when weight loss is brought up?

Its an overlooked aspect, yes. Fiber is such a vital nutrient to begin with, but it really helps in dieting. Fiber is essentially a carbohydrate, but since its pretty much water, it doesn't add significantly to calorie or carb counts. I actually subtract Fiber from my carb count while dieting because it doesn't serve the same function as simple or complex carbs.

You should be trying to eat atleast 40 grams a day of Fiber, either from supplements, veggies, or whole wheat. I kill Broccoli here on campus when I cut because its loaded with Fiber and barely adds calories to your count. I lose my cravings for food and feel much fuller when I consume high amounts of Fiber... not to mention it helps when you gotta drop a deuce!
