First never a fan of wraps or straps or anything to help with grip. Tried them, never liked them. Yeah wear gloves to protect the hands somewhat but thats it.

But since last year or so the pain got too much when deadlifting, doing pulldowns, rows, etc...Problem is started as fairly skinny then put a lot of size one, but the grip just didn't coming along as fast as the rest plus do fairly high reps at high weight for most excerzies (the lowest is 6-8 on deadlifts, everything else 10 plus) and it got to the point that wieght was left that shoulda been lifted, was left, plus using tricks to hold on to it for a few extra reps

Catching bar with skin when deadlifting, tilting the dumbell so it rests aginst the fist when doing rows, locking fingers to get a couple of extra pulldowns, etc...

Pain got so bad, trouble gripping the stearing wheel on the way home

Ethers any kind of strap or wrap or whatever.

Added 50 pounds to the deadlift at same reps automaticlly

Pulldowns pain free

Able to balance the dumbell when doing rows, really squeeze the back and ignore grip

Can pill on the wieght for shrugs

They even work great for curls.

Yeah, if you can do it natural cool. And yeah what you gain in the wieght and major muscles you lose stablilizers and grip. But if you don't care, or to the point where grip is behind too much, grab those.

Best glove ever bought, even felt obligated to write a long gay ass post on it, plus its a small company and dude is keeping the patent and not selling so it's cool to support a good grassroot product.

Theres a big debate on the issue of gripping in the powerlifting world, so do speak. Some people say that when your grip fails, its actually a product of some weakness in a different body part, like lower back, glutes, hams, traps, forarms, shoulders, etc. people on the other side of the argument do believe that if your grip fails, its only your grip that is lagging behind. Im more in the middle. I believe that if your grip fails often on deads, shrugs and etc is due to grip strength and other body parts that are not so strong.

For deadlifting, there are alot of people that tend to fail when the bar is close to the middle of the thighs. That usually means that your lower back needs to be strengthen or you should have used more leg drive(a technical/form issue).

Anyway, I don't use gloves to lift weights. I do use straps, since I deadlift twice a week and I days where Im just looking to improve my take off and lock out using heavy weight without worrying about grip issues. and the other day is strickly no straps deadlifting day, just me against the weight(love this feeling). I also use a belt sometimes, not often though. I use it to aid in keeping my core tight on heavy weights. I only use a belt for heavy deads, heavy squats, heavy military presses and bent over rows.

Yeah secondary and stabilizer muscles do affect your grip, but in the end the grip is the grip, its still your wrists and forearms doing most of the heavy work. Other muslces can only subsidize your grip to a point, after that, you are leaving wieght on the rack because your grip is not up to par. You can shift your hand position around all you want, and it might help you to get another rep in but in the end its still your hands.

But yeah if you use straps at all, try these instead, killed any other thing the Lion has tried.

Check it out, held onto 495 long enough to get 6 good shrugs in. Before  at the Lion holding that wieght long enough to do 2. it would be maybe 1, then a thunderous crash as the wieght hits the ground and everybody looks ....
