im not a good enough writer to tell you in less than a couple of paragraphs. it's a long read so there are several major plot lines running through the story, but they call come together.

basically an english sailor and his crew crash land during a storm. they end up crash landing in japan (this is the 17th century), and the story is the sailor getting involved in this huge civil war that is going on in the country. there is also a love story, and a religious conflict sewn in.

i know of the book, my s/o's dad has it its sitting in the next room happy as a clam. (ugg im tired gimme a break)... and many others by him... i will try to give it a read after i finish the book i am reading.

i was not into japanese culture/history at all when i read this. i was dating a half japanese chick at the time and she recommended it to me. it's an amazign book nonetheless

all his books are good...shogun, king rat, noble house, etc. he also wrote the script for the great escape.
