I never really cared for the "I'm Like a Bird" Nelly Furtado. I kinda like her material now, plus she's gotten really pretty and changed her whole look, and style. So why ya'll hatin'?

Nelly Furtado started out as a rapper.
She always had a very diverse style mixing hip hop with reggae, soul, r&b, folk whatever. She is pretty talented. The album has kind of a throwback 80's feel to it. Maybe because of the synths and the melody arrangements used. I can't front, some songs get burn.

I find it amusing that people form an opinion based on nothing and then when the actual facts and history get pointed out, they pretend like they didnt hear it lol.
"Nelly sold out."
"Um actually, check her first LP, she's always been experimental with that type of......"
"I SAID, she sold OUT!"

True story. I saw an interview and she does all kinds of music and she covers these different styles on her albums. Her next one will probably sound different than the "promiscuous" type shyt.

she was in a triphop group before she got famous, fairly natural artist progression if you ask me
before the music industry was ruled by kids with too much pocket money, it wasnt rare for artists to diversify and try new things

Working with Timbaland is a step up no matter who you are or what genre you're affiliated with. I like all of Nelly Furtado's albums and have been a fan since Whoa Nelly came out, and Loose is easily her best album.
You can call her a sellout if you want, but all that matters to me is whether an artist makes good music, and she made some damn good music this year.
