Who said it was over
who said you could leave
so now when I think of you
I find it so hard 2 breathe
who made the decision
for you to leave me alone
so you're not here to help me
or even see how Ive grown
who dictated your future
and took you from me
who made that decision
with which I cant agree
what makes me go on
what makes it okay
that you will never be there
to give me away
why does the phone never ring
when your number is dialled
why will you never see
your first born grandchild
who took you away
so I no longer feel safe
who took you from me
and with that took my faith
...
If God said it was over
if God made you leave
then that God is the reason
I could never believe...

I miss you every day.

Just thought I would re-up this piece, haven't heard from Sister Girl in a while. Thought I just let you know that you are thought about and that you and your skills are missed. Holler when you can.

Heartfelt and appreciated. Elementary and skirting the issue. The question should get asked once if you hope to answer anything in your piece. And truly, that's the only reason anyone other than you needs to read it. Had you wasted less time trying to reword the same question a million times for sake of a pattern, you could have dealt with the meaty goodness hiding in this poem.

Right here is your poem;

"If God said it was over
if God made you leave
then that God is the reason
I could never believe..."

The rest is diversion. This poem needs to talk to God or you, not your Mom or Dad or whomever is the subject. Your beef is with God. Let's hear that one. Otherwise, this is just a list of unanswered questions which doesn't affect my diposition at all.

Energy..

You know what you're right but truthfully this poem was just written for the sake of writing, I dont think I ever saw 'the meaty goodness' in it at all. They ARE just a bunch of questions and my beef IS with 'God' or moreover my lack of belief in one which (I might add) is not a NEW development in terms of my lack of faith. So thank you for your feedback and thank you for bringing up the issue...but I doubt I can make this any better than what is is...because it is what it is... "just a list of unanswered questions which doesn't affect my diposition at all."

I dont have the answers and the point in question is that I dont intend to search for them.
All I believe in right now is the kindness, goodness (and honesty^) of human nature and that is more than enough for me.

Thanks again!

I feel you on this STP, there's a saying that goes "don't go waste your time on pleasing somebody else" write for yourself and if it's felt it's felt. Nobody knows what you've gone through or are going through when you create a piece yet they have their two cents ready to cast just for the sake of. My feelings have always been that the yabba dabba's can push on like a Flintstone, I write what I like and I write for self, these veiws may seem cold and selfish but it's tit for tat regarding many opinions, a cipher may be a cipher but it doesn't make it correct. Some fail to realize that most pieces come from the heart while they are writing from the head. Now which one speaks the most truth?

If something is written only to be written than why would you post it to be read? Having no consideration for your audience doesn't make you apathetically artistic. It doesn' afford you some sort of validity. You post things to be read. That's why 2 cent get hurled in. This whole board suffers from this problem. Which is probably why no one is published or on stage. It's terribly handicapping yourself to say that those who like your work are correct and those who don't like your work simply, don't understand your feeling inside. Well then, you failed. The point of writing your feeling out may be to work it out in your own head, but posting them is encouraged by a whole other desire. It's offensive to post something like, "Hey read this but I don't care what you think cause it's not for you, but here I'm gonna post it.. so that you can read it and not have any other opinion but a good stroking of my ego." hahaha... weak. If you can't take criticism please stop calling yourself an artist. And for heaven's sake, don't insult the people who have taken the time to work on their craft by saying that you write poetry when what you write is a journal entry. Wow, this place is kind of a joke as far as growth is concerned. What do you guys learn here? Or are you ALL teachers who haven't studied the thing that they profess to teach?

I'd like to make clear that STP was not the focus of that response. I actually enjoyed the constructive dialog, for the most part, that we shared there. The overall stance of this board is one of blind ego. Your ego's are really getting in the way of anything positive that this board has to offer artistically. Now if this is the, highschool diary that I want to share but say that it isn't for you, well.. then we have the reason for everyone being here. But we should stop calling it a poetry forum. Actually, you should probably call it whatever YOU want as I am really only a guest here as of late.

Hey, Hey, Hey - now my feelings are hurt. Why do I post? because I can this is America right? not South Africa or Tianamen Square.
I am not looking for validation from anyone especially you Mr. Pompus. I don't mean to alarm you but not everyone's trying get published or on stage for that matter. Ever think that this is just an outlet for some, news flash everyone's dream is not to be Mr. Mia Anleou like you. By the by whoever died and left in charge of critiquing should have sent you to finishing school first, can you say class? Come on down off your high horse and dwell with the common folk, what you'd say partner. I'm sure you are not such a bad person once you take that stick out ya' arse. As far as jokes go here's one for ya, since you are only a guest why don't you came back again when can't stay so long. I say poetry and you say journal, well whatever it is it's mine and I won't stop the drop. Because I chose to walk outside the dotted line doesn't make you any better than me or anyone else for that matter. Don't down those who have the courage step out and be different. Hope that this doesn't ruffle your country club collar, but we ain't tryin' to be like you son. See you on the Polo Grounds.

No one has done this and it is the major reason for my response. lol!
As far as my highhorse, It's not I that have taken myself so much higher but rather, you have allowed yourself to stay so low. Just because you don't want to be onstage or record or be published apparently means that you have no desire to improve for yourself. There's approximately 4 posts a day in this place. Funny that you would get *****y when someone actually takes the time to read what is posted.

You display a lack of intelligence when you claim that you have no more to learn. I'm not Mr. Pompus. I'm Mr. Has an Opinion. And Mr. The Only One Actually Replying to anyting on this board. So, when you're ready to take your training wheels of and actually walk the walk I'll be ready to call you poet. Otherwise, you sir are wack as **** to me.

I am not going to get into a squabble with you. As far as I am concern if you want to be queen I mean King of poetry then go right ahead I even hope that your conceited behind gets an A+. "If you like it then I love it" whatever floats ya boat, because of my lack of intelligence I am not equipped to argue with another person about poetry it is obvious that you have a poetry major with a cheerleader minor. So naturally your turds do not smell, but I'm still gonna keep it real. I never said that I have no more to learn for we all learn something new everyday I would never say something like that. So read what I say and not what you think I said, wizzo. None of us here have a problem with criticizim, it's just the way it was done by you that trips me out. Like you da shyt when you really are full of it. I see we both are from chi 'cept I'm from the part that signified and you're from the part that got punched and cried. Lastly as far as your opinions go, does head come with that? Tea and Crumpets you mofo.

Hahahah "Wizzo".
That's still making me chuckle, permission to use it?
And as long as you're interested.
My major was theatre/physics. And cheerleading was my minor.
I'm from Mass and lived in Chicago for some years.

I state my opinions as if I believe them... why should it be any other way?
I'm sorry that you lack the same backbone.
I state how I feel and give the respect of explaining why I feel that way.
A dignity that seems to be unheard from in your chest cavity.
You namecall. A tactic resorted to when you're unable to defend yourself.

And please, can we take this outside. I sincerely do not want to disrespect STP.

Now if you'll excuse me, my tea is getting cold.

You name the time and place Yakoo (big headed scientest) I would not use the word dignity if I were you. You catch more flies with sugar than salt but you have to have a heart that's bigger than your brain to know that (touche'). It seems that you like to talk about yourself alot which means that you are probably by yourself alot too (I'm on a roll). Look I am gonna be the bigger person in this and squash it. I was having not to good of a day and your brashness was just too much. Now I realize that you can't help yourself so keep on blowing hot air if you will, first I was pissed at you now I just feel sorry for you. Classic example of not getting enough love as a kid syndrom.

P.S. if you're from Boston then you ain't from Chicago, wizzo.
Yes you have my permission (learn somthing everyday).
