I've been exercising hard for the last month and a half. Doing heavy weights and 30 mins of cardio everyday. I've lost lots of weight and put on a good amount of muscle (simply because i didn't have much to begin with.) So I’ve stopped running and now I’m bulking up and have been doing that for about a week and a half. In another week I’m going to stop bulking and hit the cardio again.
What i need to know is: what is the best way to maintain muscle while i do massive cardio. I've built a good amount of muscle because I’ve been using heavy **** and doing lots of reps. Right now because i am bulking i have a glass of milk before i lift than i have a glass and a spoon full of peanut butter after i lift. But obviously i don't want to gain while i am cutting.
I am going to keep lifting while i cut simply because it burns fat faster, but does anyone have some good tips to keep muscle up while you try to burn fat?

What was your body weight prior to 'lifting hard'? what was your body fat percentage before that as well? what is your body weight now and whats your body fat % now? Hows your overall diet like? Lets see how much muscle mass did you really gain in a month of lifting hard and doing massive cardio. No bulkying period mentioned so far. see where I am getting at? Your results sound a bit off for a individual that lifted hard(with cardio every day) for only a month and a half and did not bulk prior to that. And then you state that you're bulkying now for a week or so and will continue to do so for another week. And afterwards start cutting, its not adding up. Its too little a time to really see any substancial gains while bulkying. What is your caloric intake now that you're bulkying? Its important to check the numbers here, to really see if things add up. and at the moment things are not adding up. Im not trying to discredit your gains or anything like that, but to my knowledge it just doesn't make much sense. Maybe other members of this forum have experienced, witnessed or heard of results like yours and can back you up, I don't know.
Anyway, you really don't have to do massive cardio while cutting. You should try and do a HIIT style cardiovascular routine for 3 to 4 times a week, for 20 to 30 mins and that ought to be enough to obtain solid results(cardio wise). And another key factor in a cutting cycle to keep as much muscle and drop body is to maintain a high protein intake, and to lower your carbs intake and lower further your fat intake(fat intake should be almost zero). Your caloric intake while cutting ought to be about 1000 to 2000(or more) cals less than your bulkying caloric intake. And you also don't really have to lift too heavy, since you'll be relatively weaker than when you were bulkying(due to body fat dropping). Try and stick to lifting weights that are 65% to 75% of your 1RM(rep maximum). In general, people use the bulkying cycle to gain a substantial amount of muscle mass and some fat as well(thats how our bodies work). And then switch to a cutting cycle to drop/reduce the body fat and maintain the muscle mass gained during the bulkying cycle. The human body responds more efficiently when it goes through such cycles, regarding gaining muscle mass and losing body fat. Its very tough to do both at once.

Listen here old cheese puff head. I am a genetic freak...i can lift weights and gain muscle extremely fast. See this is why i hate going to the gym...you ask a dude for a pointer or two and they critique everything you do...like their in better shape than you so they can feel all high and mighty and trash a dudes game plan.
Let me make this easier for everyone:
I am doing extensive cardio...how do i maintain my muscle mass while doing this cardio.
Plain and simple...i don't need to crunch numbers about body fat percentage, or my original weight or any of that ****. Just give me the basic fundamental rules.

lmao....u sonned that old bald ass 30 yr old mufukka
anyways, here a few tips:
1. Do HIIT Cardio...its basically intervals....1 minute jogging, 1 minute sprinting as fast as u can, 1 minute walking...repeat
its burns up to X9 as much fat as any time as any other style of cardio, and takes HALF the time. You can also apply the intervals to any else type of cardio you do, it doesnt necesarily have to be running - I.E. swimming
2. Do your HIIT cardio 1st thang in the morning on an empty stomach...burns more fat...raises your metabolism 4 the rest of the day....keeps you alert (mentally & Physically) for the whole day
3. at night eat a SLOW digesting protein, so it will repair your muscles. Examples = Casein shakes, Cottage cheese etc. Also, the slow digesting proteins is good to take b4 bed, cuz it will prevent muscle loss when ur doing cardio in the morning on an empty stomach.
4 After your workouts, take an ice bath for 10-15 minutes. Its awkward as hell at first, but after a few, u get used to it. This will rush all the lactic acid out of your muscles, and speed up recovery, which means youll be able to workout more often, and thus, gain muscle, and lose more fat quicklier.
5. Get 8 hours of sleep. (important 4 recovery/muscle repair) You can actually get by on 6 tho, if you eat a clean diet. Vegetarians in specific only require 6, because their food requires less digestion. You dont HAVE to turn vegan or anything, just make sure you eat more fruits + veggies. Stay away from cow milk - it retains water in the body, and causes excess mucus and allergy. and its HARD AS F*CK to digest. if u must have milk, drink soy, or almond milk.
For animals, try to eat leaner sources - I.E. [meat]buffalo, ostrich, [fish] salmon, tuna. These are the best, they have the most protein, and the least calories/fat. And are the most easiest digested.
Try to eat more nuts, seeds , and beans for your protein - there good lean sources w/ minimal fat aswell
Stay away from white bread/rice/grains, only eat whole wheat. (white bread is not only hard to digest, and is simple carb (which are bad) - only simple carbs u need 2 be eatin are fruits/veggies. whole grains/wheat is complex carbs which are good)
so yeah, thats the basic diet to get the most out of ur sleep.
well thats all i remember right now, ill coe back later an add more if i remember suthin

I've never heard of this before, to get results, do I have to do this after EVERY workout? Can I do it when I get home or does it need to be right after?

Haha, i was just trash talking; i actually appreciate his input. At the same time i was simply looking for a more direct answer rather than what my body weight/fat is etc.

yeah i guess. I mean, i'm usually on sohh to clown... but i take the fitness forum more seriously because it deals with health/weight/excercise issues.
i don't know how to answer your question though, i'm just trying to lose weight. I think i'm a little on the husky/massive end for someone of my background/height (not that it should matter because i go against the status quo, if i can say that). But overall, would like to slim down and maybe keep some of that muscle as well.
Right now at 224, i want to be down to a good 200 and i'm solid for life (if i can maintain that, it would be beautiful).

This sounds like a load of bullocks. cold muscles = inflexible muscles and, with appreciations of the dangers of "lactic acid", would do nothing but cause unnecessary injury to your body and hinder your repair process
plus studies have proven ice showers can be detrimental for the heart and cause stress factures. but Buddha forbid the mind boggling evils of lactic acid, a tool of the jews if you didn't know
