Man for me, cardio is done every day. At least some form. Whether it's treadmill or runnin a lil ball. I can't just jump in the gym and start throwing steel around. Plus I'm tryin to get lean so I think that helps me.
Every tuesday, thursday, and saturday morning on an empty stomach. I start with 15 minutes on the bike at high intensity, then jump to the elliptical for another 15 at even higher intensity, then finish it off with 15 minutes on the treadmill going as fast as I can.

On the weekdays usually in the evening after my last meal of the day (usually 1-2hrs afterwards) and on weekends in the morning after breakfast. I can't do cardio straight through; I always do intervals. Usually 15 min elliptical, stretch then weights, 10-15min elliptical, weights and then 20-30min on treadmill.

elliptical bike, standard bike, run/jog, and now i'll go back to the stairmaster about 2 times a week. i can't make myself get up early enough to do it in the morning AND take care of everything else that needs done before i go to work, or i would. so i do it around 8:30-9:00 at night, about 1-2 hours after my last meal.

The ideal cardio workout is first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, AFTER any lifting routine. Also, variation on intensity is more effective than a steady pace. And always eat some high-protein food or drink immediately after your workout.

I keep hearing this, but just other day I was reading a fitness magazine & they said this is a myth- it's best to eat something high protein right before you work out, so you don't get lightheaded, thoughts?
I do my cardio at night (only time I have to workout)- 1 or 2 hours after I eat- 1 to 1 1/2 hours- running, swimming, bike, stepmill, rower.

Well if you experience lightheadedness during your workout, then it could help alleviate that. But as far as getting the most out of your workout, the reasoning to doing it before you eat is that your body has been fasting since your last meal, presumably several hours before sleep the previous night, making your body more apt to burn existing calories rather than ones you consumed just prior to the workout...results in maximum fat loss and helps your metabolism. Eating high protein after the cardio helps prevent loss of muscle mass from breakdown.
This is what Ive always known to be true. Id say that if someone has a problem w/ getting lightheaded then go for it...otherwise, stick to what works.

i've been on the eliptical a lot lately, sometimes bike, but i know that the most effective form of cadio is actual running (even treadmill, but i'm sure that doesn't compare to actually stomping the pavement with your joints and really getting your body in motion).
But like homedude said, variation is what counts, intensity as well.
I'ma run tomorrow and see what it does for me... cuz the eliptical isn't cutting it for me anymore.

Everyday if I can, after weights & crunches. About 20-40mins on the treadmill. I will warm up with about a 2-mile jog and then do HIIT the rest of the time.

you should go to a running store & get fitted...I did that a few months ago & it was a very good move...got a pair of running shoes (mizunos) that feel really good on my feet....it's worth it even if you run a few times a week.

Instead of driving I bike to the gym. gives me a good 2 hrs of cardio and weightlifting in one which saves me a whole lot of time and energy. I don't usually do cardio at the gym unless when I'm called to posterize some highschool punk in a game of halfcourt. but thats more of doing the Lords good work :king:
