View Full Version : Oasis is the best band of the past 20 yrs!
I'm tired of the American critics bashing them. They are one of the biggest bands in the rest of the world, but America has turned a deaf ear.
I don't get it, they easily have the best overall catalogue of any band that came out in the 90's or later.

They're dropping a 2-disc "Best Of" CD in November called Stop The Clocks.
They're being forced to by Sony. It was a clause in their contract that Sony had the righ to drop a best of CD when the contract was up. Don't Believe The Truth fulfilled the contract, and Oasis was planning a move, so Sony decided to cash it. Noel says the band got involved so the CD wouldn't be shyt.
Suppossed to be 2 new tracks on it, including "Stop The Clocks," which Noel has been building up for years as one the best songs he's ever written.

Look at madonna, shes utter crap but she's stuck with whats popular and has lasted this long. One of their last songs "leila" I think, was just so pop-rock as if they were trying to steal the fans from the *****-bands like Keane and Franz Ferdinand lol

Did you hear "The Importance of Being Idle," "Turn Up The Sun," "Part of the Queue," "Pass Me Down The Wine," or "Who Put the Weight of The World on My Shoulders?"
Those are all incredible songs.
I just find them and their songs really pretentious and cliche, not to mention I think the ghallager brothers are knobs lol

Their last few albums aren't worth hearing.
But "Be Here Now" is in my opinion better than anything any British band has done in over 25 years.

Those are all incredible songs.
Oasis is my favorite band. DBTT was a great album..and there are great B-sides on the CD singles too.

Their music may be better (if you want to call it music)... but they aren't a band. They're more like a clique of very confused people with good marketing behind them and an image to make many people who fancy themselves intelligent think that there's more meaning in them than there actually is.
They were a band for one album ("The Bends", which is a 4.5/5 album), but that's it.

This is what happens everytime with Oasis haters. They can't state why they don't like them just that they aren't "good". I can tell you why I don't like other bands. Coldplay sounds like their in outerspace all the time and it's not music you can listen to and have a good time. U2 is almost like a Coldplay rip off now even though they been out much longer. Once again the music just doesn't move you. I will admit all 3 bands make simple catchy cliche songs but what big band doesn't? Oasis just does it the best with the most style that doesn't seem fake.

Oasis may not be the best band of the past 20 years...but they certainly are my favorite. They also have to at least be considered. Too many great songs to just try to laugh them off. I realize the fact that Liam is an as shole turns a lot of people off, but he also is one of the last few legitimate rock star front men in the music industry.

U2 is no diff than any other old band trying to stay relevant and do the same crap as all the current artists. Keep the sig though cause old or new, Oasis still ****s on them. :smoker:

Definitely a great band. I wouldn't say the best band within the past 20 years. I saw them live and I was very dissappointed, however I still like them alot.
