END OF THE WEAK 6 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
New York’s Longest Running Open Mic to Celebrate with 3 Days of Events
NEW YORK – Sunday, August 20th will mark the 6 Year Anniversary of End of the Weak (EOW) and the 312th consecutive week that they will have opened their doors for the city’s premier hip-hop open mic. To celebrate the momentous occasion, EOW will be hosting 3 days of events, an independent hip-hop all-star concert, a family day BBQ, and of the course the anniversary proper.
FRIDAY (Aug. 18th) To kick-off the weekend we reached out to many of the MCs we have worked with over the years and put together an all-star line-up that includes performances by Jin, C-Rayz Walz, Breez Evahflowin, Poison Pen, Hom, Datin, Iron Solomon, Vanguard, Pumpkinhead, Stimulus, Mr. Met and Hydra. If that was not enough, we added the hip-hop band Dujeous and the percussionist Swiss Chris. To top it off, the night will be hosted by J. Budrock Freshly AND will feature a Dance performance by AudioSuite. But wait, you might ask... what about EOW? Zoo? Vice? Pro? Webb? None? Don't worry folks, we have a very special performance planned that will recap the years of music we have created while giving a preview of what is to come! $12 in advance, $15 - Southpaw - 125 5th Ave, Brooklyn
SATURDAY (Aug. 19th) What better way to celebrate then with a BBQ? Well what about a BBQ with a DJ? What about a BBQ, with MAD DJs, all day, in the PARK? Exactly what we were thinking! So the 2nd day of our celebration is going to be an all-ages, FREE, outdoor celebration in Prospect Park. We will have DJ Callabrass, DJ Vinyl Richie, Mykey, DJ 1st Class and the Juggla will all be spinning Hip-Hop-Classics-Roots-Reggae-Dub-Fusion-Stuff throughout the day. We will ALSO have grills set-up but ask that you bring your own supplies. If you just want to bring cash and eat, email us (info@endoftheweak.com) by Friday, the 18th! FREE - Prospect Park (Q Train to Prospect Park)
SUNDAY (Aug. 20th) To wrap up the weekend, we will (of course) be hosting the open-mic on Sunday. To spruce it up we will have the requisite give-away bags, drink specials and we will open the 2nd floor with DJs. Also on the 2nd floor will be an art exhibit featuring Atiim (paintings & drawings), Lex (paintings & t-shirts), Michelle Perez (b/w photo series), Substantial & UV Ink (paintings & drawings), DEAM 2 - TLK (graff) and BUC ONE (graff) $6 in advance, $12 - 101 Ave. A btwn 6th & 7th, LES
