For fat loss purposes, you should stick with water as your main source of liquid intake. Diet coke, even though it has less sugar compared to regular coke, its still quite a bit. A good alternative for sugar intake is fruits. I get most of my sugar intake(which is not much) from fruits, which is very healthy and works well for fat loss goals or any other fitness/exercise goals.
So, the question is, Like cubanshorty has pointed out, what is your purpose as far as drinking diet coke? what is your fitness/exercise objective? Do you have one?
Lift heavy, lift smart, eat smart and rest heavy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was just reading something about certain sweeteners and swallowing air being a common cause of bloating and gas...
stick to water or 100% juice (not added sugar) although.. juice is kinda high in sugar....
are you trying to lose weight? maintain weight? or do you just like diet pop?

Man, just drink diet soda if you want it. I went 6 months with just drinking water then when I started drinking diet coke I see no difference. I can't say it will have adverse side effects on muscle growth because no one knows. But if you worry about lil sh1t like this you'll go crazy. It's worst sh1t in the air IMO. Go ahead and have your diet coke cuz, but I would stick to the sh1t with splenda it's proven not to cause insulin spikes.
It all comes down to numbers. Technically, diet soda will not cause you to consume excess calories or sugar, but that doesn't make it a healthy choice. The occasional diet soda is fine, but water should be your number one drink. Diet Soda, especially with Caffeine, dehydrates your body for a period of time and carbonated beverages have never been highly regarded as healthy either.
The Obese individual trying to lose 100 lbs. can drink diet soda all day and still see fat loss, but the cat trying to cut from 10% to 7% bodyfat is better off sticking to just water. Depends on your situation.

isn't the jury still out on the dangers of aspartame tho? I avoid anything that contains it (diet soda & nonfat yogurt being the two biggest ones)...
Aspartame has been the subject of a vigorous public controversy regarding its safety and the circumstances around its approval. A few studies have also recommended further investigation into alleged connections between aspartame and diseases such as brain tumors, brain lesions, and lymphoma. These findings, combined with notable conflicts of interest in the approval process, have engendered vocal activism regarding the possible risks of aspartame.
Some point to the rapid breakdown of Aspartame causing spikes of phenylalanine and aspartic acid which can upset chemical balances and cross the blood-brain barrier, as well as unnatural spikes in levels of Methanol in places the body does not normally encounter it (like within metabolic processes), raising concerns as to its safe containment and elimination.

Yea thats another point that makes Diet Soda unattractive to some. There are too many unknowns about the chemicals they put into these so called diet foods. Aspartame was used as Nutrasweet for a long time in most diet drinks, but now your seeing them switch to Splenda and Sucralose. But, even Splenda still has its concerns since Sucralose has been linked to damaged Immune Systems in some cases, but not often enough to make it a heatlh warning. Granted, you'd have to be consuming huge amounts of the stuff to make an effect, using a packet or two with coffee or drinking it in a diet soda isn't going to kill you.

I'm really interested in this topic because i'm a soda junkie
After i've done my share of eight 8-oz glasses a day will it hurt my health routine to drink a diet soda once daily.. I can't get enuff of the bubbly n good stuff.
I stay on sierra mist free (sugar free, calorie free, caffiene free). It can't hurt right... mmmmmmm diet pepsi :inlove:
Water just does not taste good with meals.. Drink the water first to get it out of the way, and to keep hydrated.. It's just not a pleasurable experience. It's a necessary task to keep the body running rite.
Am I doing harm to myself like that.. ???
NO!!!!!
my aunt got a brain tumor and she was a diet coke drinker...
i got one motto either drink reg or dont drink pop at all
