You dont see us pretending we had better rock stars than the Stones, the Beatles, Ozzy Osbourne, Pink Floyd, the list goes on and on and on...we appreciate good contributions to music from anywhere..but put quite simply English rap is average at best, even if it is better than most of the stuff in America right now

def. not all though, UK rap isnt better than the Roots, or Fort Minor just for a quick example

I understand the whole nationality/regionality thing, but I dont see many objective people who know anything about hip hop on this site, whether we're talking about the UK supporters or the South supporters or the NY supporters

however, I do listen to every song before I write it off, so feel free to attempt to prove me wrong with some tracks i need to hear...its just that so far every UK song that someone has made a stink over and I've given it a shot, I have been severely disappointed

Just like all good U.S hip hop it's behind the curtains and never sees the commercial side of the industry.

Kinda agree in terms of UK hip-hop but Grime music is something separate from hip-hop and the best stuff should be listened to.

Here is a free download for a mixtape from grime's no 1 DJ, Logan Sama. It's called the War Report and features the whole rundown of the current beef between two of grime's best camps in Boy Better Know (Wiley, Skepta, JME and Frisco) and The Movement (Ghetto, Wretch 3 2, Scorcher, Devlin, Lightnin and Mercston). Top tunes and I think you'll be impressed if you have a listen.

imo UK rap still has a long way to go

to me it seems to be still developing, the majority of the subject matter is basic/experimental with the exceptions of a few veterans

i wouldn't say its better than US rap because pound for pound the UK may be better, but the US has the top lyricists in the game by far (its a shame theres also a lot of weak artists)

i think in a few years when a lot of the uk rappers have matured a little bit more and developed their subject matter then the uk can truly be compared to the US

Juicer

^^ pretty much what I think, some of the UK rappers need to get off that silly sh!t
