So having the appearance of holding money is serious like that
Something you need that much that you trying to keep up with the next cat
Last I checked a 6 series didn’t make you a man
And I really could care less about those cubics on your hand
Why you went and added glass crystals to your swatch
You really thing you’re going to find a wife by your watch?
And those spinners are only cute on pimp my ride
But the fact yours are spinning backwards in the truth you are trying to hide
I saw on the news last night there is a thief running up in stores
Cutting off Rocawear labels off the jeans and dashing out the door
Are those needle pricks on your thumb from sewing them into old Levi’s?
Thinking the rest of world doesn’t have eyes
I know you had a tight grip on that wad in your pocket in the club last night
Making sure the napkins in the middle didn’t show, squeezing with all your might
Still holding on to that $50 your grandmother gave your for your last birthday
All that work to floss for just one day
Honey, I hate to tell you this, but we know better than all that mess
And really you could stand to do a lot less
Your mama didn’t tell you that a real woman wants something real
A man that is the same on the surface AND once all those layers start to peel
Sh*t, I’ll take a man in Dockers from JcPenny and a Faded Glory polo if it’s pressed right
And I know that when he leaves his JOB, he comes home to me at night
We can build wealth together if you just had your mind in the right place
With some determination we would have millions, our own house to lace
Not just a room at the boarding house, a dirty mattress and a hot plate
I need work ethic in any kind of future mate
How we going to build when you live in a land of hood fantasy
So focused on keeping up appearances for others, you forget about me
But go on ahead and keep thinking short money will get you a wife
You’ll see one day that keeping up with the Joneses will lead to a miserable life
Something you need that much that you trying to keep up with the next cat
