I'll Be Damn

wake up in the morning
with sleep in my eyes
i bust out the door
to catch the sunrise

i breathe in the dawn
the night says good-bye
rekindling my rapport
a superb day i surmise


and hear the bird's song
watch as they hastily fly
steadily carrying out chores
gathering food and supplies

then all of a sudden
it all starts to sink in
that today is Monday
it is not the weekend

i go back uo stairs
climb back into bed
those damn noisy birds
place pillow over head
