Some days we walk on this earth like
We have all the time in the world
I look around and see how we ignore older folk
And there’s something wrong with that
They see us living our lives and remember when
They were younger and making mistakes too,
Loving and being loved
We’re figuring out that it’s just a gift to be here at all
Figuring out
There’s nobody we need more than we need ourselves,
Than we need God
We’re all just men and women walking in our journeys
We can’t save anyone
Or be saved
The older man, the older woman with wisdom
Why can’t we see beauty in their faces?
Are we unable to see what’s beautiful?
What took a lifetime to acquire?
Collecting lovers, never having enough
Competing all of the time
I just want to walk away
I have had enough
It’s time to go to sacred ground
To sit in stillness
To learn how to laugh like a child again
To let go of what people did,
What we did
To let God use our hands for once
Then we can grow older
And glow with the beauty of wisdom.
We have all the time in the world
I look around and see how we ignore older folk
And there’s something wrong with that
They see us living our lives and remember when
They were younger and making mistakes too,
Loving and being loved
We’re figuring out that it’s just a gift to be here at all
Figuring out

We’re all just men and women walking in our journeys
