i'll tell you how big the alternative scene was back in seattle (circa 92-95)



so big, that the urban stations back then used to play the shiit (it eventually reverted back to it's roots and played R&B/rap once the fad diminished).



Everybody and they momma had a plaid/flannel clothes.

I agree with the thread for the simple fact that the climate was totally different 30 years ago. There were more record companies and less monopolies. None of those other scenes would have happened in the early '90s and especially not now. That movement took over MTV, radio, and the culture, and even had to compete with hip-hop, Mariah Carey, and all the evil corporate forces. They killed it so hard that eventually the big companies had to accept it, and try to usurp it which eventually killed it, but it was good while it lasted.
