Greeting all. I've been lifting for a while, and I never maxout, but I'm pretty strong. As of late though...I am finding the gym to be extremely boring. I just get on the weights, and ignore the cardio stuff, so I'm big & strong, but not cut like I wanna be. Today..I stopped my membership at the regular gym, and joined a boxing gym. I've actually seen the results of a few people I know personally, and I was amazed at their change....so I jumped in with both feet, and even have a trainer.'

I wanted to know if anyone else in here belongs to a boxing gym, and what your take is on the whole boxing method of exercise.

HaHa . . . I know exactly what you mean about getting tired of the gym. It's a phase, but I am sure you will get another gym membership. I have been to a boxing facility a few times to learn of a few techiques that boxers use to train. However, my knowledge and experience is still very limited about the boxing world. To train your body to take hits. To minimize the power of the punch by stepping in if the angle permits you. To strengthen the back and maximize balance and foot speed. It's cool.

It's an area I would like to delve into. Give us all a favor (or just me) and speak on your experience after a few weeks of training. I might hire a boxing trainer down the road.

Pain...

I thought I was in shape, but forgot all about lower leg lifts. The exercise sets change so fast, and keeping up with the trainer was no easy task by far. Wehnwe got into the ring, I was assuming that is where I would shine, but I ran outta gas, and had to leave the ring to get some fresh air. When i returned...they were doing jab drills, and I had to get on the treadmill to make up my lost ring time before I could participate. After that it was the heavy bag for about 30 min. This was the basic routine of the 1st week (I only left the ring the 1st day), and it seems like every place I have skin on my body is sore...even my eyelids. So far I love it.

I used to box a long time ago. It works different muscles than just regular weightlifting. It works endurance and muscle endurance...

I want to box again. Actually, I want to do a little MMA. But I loved boxing. I will still do weightlifting but I want to get back into that. It also brought a peace of mind to me. Oh, and how much does your membership costs?

Well I actually got a really good deal. I had to shop around for it, but I have gym and trainer access for $55 per month (LA area).
