Jamiroquai - The only genuine funk band left

I swear this group is a throwback to the 70s...interesting considering that they're Brits.

come on. jamiroquai were *never* a genuine funk band. :ohmy: ... if u don't know what happened to the genre, u need to be checking:

sharon jones and the dap kings
the sugarmen 3
the new mastersounds
the poets of rhythm

to name but 4... also, check kaydee records, which is kenny dope and keb darge's record label. or any of keb's 'legendary deep funk' compilations. keeping the spirit of raw heavy funk alive ...

My eyes lit up when I saw this thread :laugh:

Jamiroquai are my favourite band, their first 2 albums were amazing, the 3rd was v good also. From then on they've gone from Funk/acid jazz joints to more disco orientated grooves. I love them like no other band/artists of any other genre, i'm surprised that anyone else on here liked them :P you all rule :laugh:

i'd like to know why this board is called alt.music. in britain, jamiroquai are anything but alternative - they are the mainstream. anyone from the uk (like me) would not need to have heard their albums, they would've been subjected to them constantly through the radio, TV, media etc.

if i really have to explain why they suck, i reckon i'm on the wrong boards here. my bad. :guilty:

but try this: jamiroqai are a bland, watered-down, anodyne, over-produced, over-slick, dare-i-say-it, 'white' version of a genuinely raw, moving, heavy, HEARTFELT musical genre. i'm not saying white folks can't do funk. i'm just saying jamiroqai can't.
