that was probably me or Shaolin over in TLR..there was a thread about that a few months back....unless you're talkin about a different thread... HFCS is the devil and one of the main reasons why our nations obesity rate is so outta control. it's in almost EVERYTHING that's processed. read labels...read labels... read labels ...that's honestly about the best advice i can give.

I read lables on everything now but why is it so bad? Dumb question because it's straight sugar so maybe that's my answer.
Its just bad for you. No real reason to dig any further either; Its a genetically altered sugar so it has little connection to the type of Fructose found in fruits. Regular Fructose is fine and actually healthy on certain diets, but this kind of sugar is like my girl said... the devil!
Bottom line is that you don't need it, so why bother consuming it? If that question was in the minds of all Americans, Obesity wouldn't be such a problem.

hfcs is a man made sweetener thats cheaper and sweeter than sugar. It's in almost everything-cereal, ketchup, soda. pasta sauce and even in some meal replacement bars which are supposed to be good for you. It's really, really bad for you because it's packed with calories, but your body doesn't recognize them. In fact HFCS shuts off your body's natural appetite control swithches, so you can eat and eat far beyond what your body would normally be able to handle. By shutting off the switches that control appetite, HFCS is a true junk food making America fat.
Unlike glucose, your body doesn't use fructose as an immediate source of energy; it metabolizes it into fat. Eating HFCS is sort of like setting up an IV that pumps fat dierctly to your gut. One of the worst offenders is soft drinks. Soda consumption per year per person has doubled in the last few decades.
Even if you aren't a soda drinker, HFCS can still sneak up on you, Here's where nutritional labels come in handy. If HFCS is listed 1st or 2nd. look at the chart on the label to see how much sugar the food contains. If it's just a gram or two, don't sweat it. But if you see a food that has 8 or more grams of sugar and HFCSs is prominent on the list of ingredients, do what you do when you get turned down for a date: Move aloong to something else. The body can deal with a little of anything but when your HFCS numbers start looking like Micheal Jordan's career stats, that's when you're headed for trouble.
