Way more then just a one trick pony. Anyone that criticizes his rhythm playing doesn't know what they are talking about.

u never explain sh1t. y don't you say why he is so good as opposed to just saying "Anyone that criticizes his rhythm playing doesn't know what they are talking about". Why is he #2?

Well considering he's not only one of the greatest guitar players of all time, but also a highly accomplished pianist, that would preclude him from being a one trick pony. As far as his playing is concerned, he doesn't really get credit for being the first dude to play that fast and that well, and for quite a while he did some interesting sh!t, maybe not special, but pretty cool. Just check the sounds he gets on the intro of "Poundcake" playing his guitar with an electric drill.

Well then, yeah I guess. But it's hard to asy "Just tapping" when without Eddie all rock music in the last 30 years wouls sound completely different, he's a far more influential guitarist than even Jimi was.

you're on a roll. between this and your claim about York, I would think all your opinions reside in the abstract.

Nah dude. Jimi's popular for sure but not a lot of people try to sound like him. Fukkin Clapton has more people trying to bite than Jimi. But the reason I say EVH is the most influential is twofold: a) hiss tyle essentially created modern heavy rock, without Van Halen all bands would sound different(at least bands who use electric guitars and b) without Van Halen creating that sound we woudln't have had the grunge scene in response to it, it's well known that a major impetus for grunge was 80's metal, so without EVH creating 80's meatl we wouldn't have had a reason for bands like Nirvana or Pearl Jam.

It's true man. I know you have a problem with controversy, but even most Radiohead fans know that sh!t.
