I was reading the Autobiography of Assata and i seen this poem.. it was very short but profound..so i expanded on it

Culture
By: Assata and I

I must confess that waltzes
Do not move me
I have no sympathy for symphonies
I guess I hummed the blues
To early and spent to many
Midnights out wailing to the rain
Subdued by pain
Anguish and agony
Dancing to the devil’s quartet
In hells disco tech
And im tired
Toes bruised
Focus I lose
As I dance away
In the rain called life
Strife becomes my provider
As death lies beside her
Im wondering when agony will end
And struggle will begin
But im not looking down
Im looking forward
Never wavering
Success I am savoring
Waiting for my savior to bring
Answers
So I pray
Not for this pain to end
Or for the suffering to stop
But for the strength to endure
Hard ships, give me a seat at the table
Cuz I got a lot of humble pie to eat
With a side of crow
Cuz you never get any where with out a beginning
Your start maybe rocky
But the lord know how broad your shoulders are
It wont be the world atlas
But at last when the bleeding stops
After your wounds heal
You can say with out a doubt
Ive hummed the blues
I know what pain taste like
A symphony is great and all
But give me a big bowl off salsa
Cuz I need some kick
Life aint suppose to be easy
Life is full of disdain, dishearting, dishonest people
Who will diss you deliberately to distant yourself from your delight
But if you delight your self in the lord he will detect all the disgruntle
Descions in your life dispose of them and there will be no distinct evidence
After the deliberation
Now that is liberation
At it’s finest
So don’t let the culture of your situation
Bring you to conclusion
Let the culture of your situation
Bring you to your knees
