Try to keep it punk and rock, no faggy R&b covers, unless they are really good

Pearl Jam-Keep On Rocking In The Free World
SRV has a few Hendrix covers that are just as good, or better then the originals.
Dead Kennedys-Viva Las Vegas
Hendrix's All Along The Watchtower
Van Halens You Really Got Me
Spoonful by Cream
I'll think of more as they come.

Hendrix's version is 100% better, Bob Dylan is so overrated
and on the topic of overrated, nothing Van Halen ever did was good, especially with that eccentric ****** David Lee Roth

I have honest to God never liked any song by Van Halen and I've heard plenty, they have that cheesy 80's sound in alot of their $hit. BTW, I dont play guitar, so i dont listen to music and rank guitarists, Im a drum guy

hmmm I should went deeper into detail. I dont want cover songs that were made of songs that came out before 1960.....come on "Respect" I didnt even know that was a cover song.
Present day bands, of old songs

he's easily better then all of them save maybe Clapton. its pretty obvious how little you actually know about guitar playing and music.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground
Oasis - Help
And Bob Dylan is the best songwriter who ever lived. Except for maybe, Lennon/ McCartney

Present day bands suck for the most part. The ones that don't know better than to do cover songs for the most part.
(And "Respect" was originally by Otis Redding, I think.)
The Stubbs the Zombie soundtrack is sort of nice. I can't find the thread where I dropped a bunch of links to cover songs.

I play 4 diff instruments 2 of them are guitar and bass. Your statement was stupid enough but you had to say "easily better" to make it officially retarded.

Big whoop, I'm willing to be you suck, I remember you saying that you had just started a little while back. Motherf*cker probably playing Old McDonald and sh*t.
And if you think that John 5, Alexi Laiho, Larry LaLonde, Jerry Garcia, Tom Morello, John Frusciante, John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Buckethead, Slash, Kirk Hammett are better guitar players the EVH, you need to open your ears and understand the instrument a little more.

Yeah Im not that good, I've gone through a couple guitar books, no lessons or anything but I do alright, I can read music and understand music theory. Me saying Morello, Kirk, Jerry, Slash and Frusch are better than Eddie is arguable, that's just my personal preference since I'm a fan of their respective bands and dont like Van Halen. But if we're talking technical ability the rest of the guys I named are definitely better. I got a good friend who's getting his degree in music theory/composistion and can play a lot of Dream Theater stuff flawlessly who would probably agree with me there.

Out of curiosity, why do musicians always think that makes them have better taste? Everyone I know who has to brag about their musical ability likes the absolute worst music, even worse than Clem.
