Am i the only one that does this? I hear most people doin their shoulders and arms one day...then doin chest and back other days...etc.
I do chest, back, and shoulders the same day. I keep tellin folks to me this is the best way to do it....ur workin ya shoulders during the bench press anyway..might as well maximize both areas the same day. I get complimented alot on my shoulders/traps crazy, so i assume im doing it the right way.
I just dont see the logic in working the chest....then working the shoulders on another day..when you're hittin that area during chest anyway...
When I was focusing primarily on Bench Press for chest day I would do my shoulders on the same day, but when I switch up my phases and go to dumbbells I move my shoulder day (to Friday usually) since Dumbbells recruit more chest muscle fibers and less shoulders/triceps. It all depends on your training situation.
I've been using only Dumbbells after developing Tendinitis from going too heavy on Bench press with no spot or lift-off. I still prefer Dumbbells over Bench Press for mass gains. Its safer and more effective.

You have to remember that there is no one magic way to set up your workout split. folks should set up their routines in which ever way is giving them gains and then switch that routine from time to time in case you plateau.
For myself I train shoulders, back and chest on different days. I have found that working on the big muscle areas in different days is more beneficial to me. I've have set up a proactive routine, by that I mean every week each body part switches around except shoulders. I workout shoulders on tuesdays, and thats all i do on tuesdays, everything else moves around.
For example, one week I'll do: week 1:
Mon: Back & biceps
tues: Shoulders
wed: rest
thurs: Legs
frid: Chest & triceps
The following week, week 2, my routine will look as follow:
Mon: Chest&triceps
Tues: Shoulders
Wed: rest
Thurs: Back&Biceps
Frid: Legs
........And the same process continues on in the weeks ahead progressively changing. this way Im continuously changing my routine. This won't work for everybody of course, however I have had solid gains from it since I started this continuous changing routine.

i see...
I do whatever now.
SOmetimes I do, sometimes I don't. I really don't focus on shoulder presses too much due to lack of equipment, but I will soon. I work out my rotators and delts on different days, sometimes twice a week.

I workout delts+traps on the same day. So when I say shoulders, Im also including traps even though traps are a different muscle group.
