I'll let the older peeps settle this since I was young through most of the 90's, but I do remember Pearl Jam running **** for a minute. I do think that the Smashing Pumpkins had a nice little run, I remember buying Melon Collie on cassete 'n siht.

Smashing Pumpkins are better than anyone mentioned in this thread, between that period and after it.

Why you all dislike SP?

I've always liked what they did, esp MC&IS album

Pick up My Bloody Valentine-Loveless and tell me that you like SP after that. Corgan took their whole style and runied it.

Haha no.

Gish = great debut
Siamese Dream = perfect
Mellon Collie = probably best double album ever.
Adore = Hugely underrated
Machina = a bit sh!t

And about the biter thing, isn't all music pretty much a derivative of some thing that came before it? I can't think of any album that hasn't been compared to something before it, warranted or not. So thats a pretty irrelevant comment.

There's a differnce between just being merely derivative and doing what they did. Seriously, all my friends used to love SP and after i played them Loveless not one of them listens to SP anymore.

I very much doubt that, since even if they have bitten someones style they still sound good. MC&IS is classic.

I'll check that album out though.

That's what I'm saying though. After hearing MBV SP doesn't sound good anymore, it ruins the entire experience, or at least it does if you have any kind of good taste.

I'm going to check the album but this post smells of rock backpack :laugh:

That said I will still like it, since it was the sound track to my youth. More memories than anything else.

Edit: After checking eMule, could you up it? Only thing i can really get from there is their entire discog...........not will do get that just yet.

Not often does a case of biting get me like this but, well, I just could never feel the same about SP after that.
