is it better to try and run a mile as quick as possible or to have a steady pace and do more

word....my best mile time was about 8 mins and change....very unimpressive..but then again i've never been a distance runner. I'm a distance SWIMMER. now if you were to ask me how fast i can swim my 1500 meters on a good day.... those stats will be way more impressive than my metric mile running stats.

my best was on an indoor track at 5:45 at 23yrs... outside was 6:30.... and they were both the same lengths... im 25 out of shape due to tendinitis and ran an 8:20 last week...
5:47, but I won't lie...I haven't done it since, and I wanted to die when it was over.
I don't even f*ck with swimmers. That sh*t is crazy.
When I played football I went from 12 mins to 6 mins by the end of the season. I'm a speed guy, not distance.

I ran track in HS...but I was always more distance than outright speed sprinting...best mile was 5:33 though

yall are going to hate me for saying this. But I ran a 5:20 mile and broke 6 minutes quite a lot. It's more more my heritage probably and good genetic code past through many generations. I'm eritrean (which neighbors ethiopia), and we are just good at running long distances. Proof, look at any marathon race or long distance events at the world games or olympics.
I always wanted to run under 5 minutes, and i will get there after I finish this damn degree at the end of the summer probably.

Recently I'd be lucky to break 11 mins...when i was younger i could run the mile in 7 mins, 6 mins if i felt good. Sad thing is I'm not really heavy nor out of shape. I'm actually pretty damn fast if i say so myself, I just lack any type of stamina to run a mile. After a quarter mile or so i get extremely fatigued and usually just say fukk it.
