Ok, last night we ventured on a three hour quest from our suburbs of Detroit,Mi to the theatre district of Cleveland, Ohio. The mood was good from the start as we packed into Berch's shiny new black Pontiac Torrent and headed across the frozen tundra that is the Ohio Turnpike. Three hours later we landed in Downtown Cleveland. As we cracked jokes about the town, asked "where lebron at?" and surveyed the surrounding ghetto (complete with boarded up homes with arson signs on them), we had a bite to eat at the Wild Buffalo. The food was good, but we were REALLY PISSED when they changed the last few seconds of the Pistons-Heat game in favor of the LAME PRO BOWL. WTF?
After that we headed for the Allen Theatre.
Aimena, long time collaborators of Sigur Ros, opened the show. These four pecuilar Icelandic girls wore "little red riding hood" outfits and delighted. They are very talented, playing instruments like THE GLASS! and THE SAW!
The ended with a breakbeat sample (the one Busta Rhyme uses in "Buss-a-buss") and turned it into some truly funky Icelandic pop. One of the icelandic cuties spoke of how great it was to play for us and that their debut ep was for sale outside, which I copped for ten bucks (well worth it).

AND THEN, CAME SIGUR ROS...................

Sigur Ros were absolutely amazing, reducing some people in the crowd to tears from the sheer beauty of their music.
I spent most of the night slumped in my chair like this:

The songs from takk were brilliantly done. espicially gong and hoppipolla.
The voice of the lead singer beamed into the crowd. He used a cello bow to thrash on his guitar during many songs, creating a haunting sound. The bass player did a nifty trick by banging a drum stick on the guitar, for an entire song, creating an awesome rhythm. the drummer was absolutely amazing. the visuals were great, especially the usage of curtains to make the member of the band appear as creatures of a celestial forest.

SCORE: 10/10

A MUST SEE LIVE ACT, LIFE CHANGING, INSPIRING, WILL HAVE YOU THINKING YOU LIFE OVER AS THEY ASTROUND YOU WITH THEIR MUSICAL BRILLIANCE, MAY MAKE YOU REALIZE THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE. LOL. A FCUKING FANTASTIC SHOW!!!

I'd like to punch whoever cries at a Sigur Ros concert right in the f*cking face.

lol why are you so mad?

Do you not feel a band can have that kind of impact on a person or you just dont think Sigur Ros warrants that sort of response?

I'm from Bloomfield Hills, but I go to UofM-Dearborn so I'm in Ann Arbor sometimes. I didn't see Sigur Ros in the fall because I didn't get into them untill after my cousin saw them in Ann Arbor and put me on to them.

I'm not mad, lol. I just dont think that many shows warrant crying, let alone a Sigur Ros concert.

I saw Sigur Ros in Ann Arbor last Fall, and then saw them in NYC last week. They were better in Mich, but I never wanted to cry.

i saw their show in columbus 2 nights ago and it was amazing... i didnt feel any need to cry but i had goodebumps.

what's the name of the song that the bassist used the drumstick for, because i had not heard it before. youre also a lucky bastard that you had seats for the show, the venue they played in columbus was standing room only.

good looks for the bootleg of the show

My buddy scored great seats for the show, ochestra pit, about 10th row or so, I was in the very middle (seat 10) lined up directly with the singer the entire time. whoa. I don't know the name of that song with the drumstick, I've only really listened to "takk", I have the () and aagestis byreum, but haven't gotten the chance to REALLY LISTEN to them yet. I didn't cry myself  . lol at all the comments about that. I thought the same way, sigur ros can't me cry! but I guess those EMO people get EMOtional. the show was like 80 percent emo, which was great cause we just made fun of the emos. as I walked out of the theatre after the show I yelled "i'm drowning in a sea of EMO!" I was hoping people could sense the dramatics/humor in my review. lol. but I was blown away and inspired none the less.

What exactly was the set up on stage? I mean instrument wise cause I always expected their live show to incorporate live strings cause strings play such a big part of their music.
