What was going on with Sylvester Stewart (bka Sly Stone) last night? I can't stop thinking about it. I love Sly. To me, he's up there with Stevie Wonder and Curtis Mayfield. But was that early exit during the middle of a song about the weirdest... (I did like the outfit and the hairdo though.)
At least he now provides a real lesson to kids on why not to do drugs.

A handful of "young and hip" artists (joss stone, ciara, john legend, maroon 5 etc.) and some "old and think they still hip" artists (steven tyler, whoever else) were doing a sly stone tribute medley. During the closer (yknow, when everybody's on stage), Sly comes out in a mysterysciencetheater-spacesuit and a blond mohawk glued to his baldy as tall as he is. (Click here.) (http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/02/09/sly.stone.ap/) Again, I liked the outfit. He gets behind the keyboard at the center of the stage and starts "playing" and sings a few lines. Then he actually screws up one line and then walks off stage casually. The "hipsters" are left to finish the song without him. (They do it with grace.) The cameras don't know who to look at. There's nobody behind or in front of the keyboard at centerstage. I never thought I'd see Ciara singing Sly Stone.

Don't try to sugarcoat it. Dude was fukked up, either that or it's just the accumulated effects of all those drugs. Still the whole performance was terrible top to bottom and especially Sly, they were honoring him and he couldn't even remember his own song. That's disgraceful.

Ciara was horrible. Fantasia overdid it. John Legend and Adam Levine were pretty good. Sly Stone wasnt even playing the piano and I think they turned his mic off (I couldnt hear him at all).
But he looked crazy as hell with the blond mohawk, I dont know what you were watching copper scroll.

i finally went back in time and saw this - homeboy left cuz it was wack. that arrangement wasnt taking him or anyone else higher and he was trying to build it up and the band deaded it with a pause going back in to the same old tired beat arrngement and he said to himself 'yall sound like ****, im out.' they definitely werent no family stone thats for sure.. randy jackson on bass instead of larry graham? sheeee...
