Most I could ever do was 25.

I put up 34 reps last year; haven't tried since then. I was around 260 pounds at the time @ 6'4".

One cheat-like rep with a liftoff and help on the way back up. Needless to say, I was done after such a strenuous experience

I never tried to see how reps(max) I could do with 225 lbs, bench press. Since, its not really pratical imo and has nothing to do with the goals Im trying to achieve. So I have no interest in knowing how many bench press (max)reps of 225 lbs I can do.

12-15 times right now and 4 sets of 8. I might try to get over 20 eventually, but I just might stop fukking with 225 and try to up my weight and Max. I hate benching though

And how old are some of you guys?

Well, after you do 20 reps or more, it's really all muscle endurance. Hell, once you get to 15 reps it's pretty much muscle endurance.

I never added ti to my training, I just did it to see how many times I could do it.

The few times I rep out at 225 I'm usually doing drop sets so that will probably be the set before my last one and I sure as hell ain't doin' no 25 reps by the time I get to that weight then.

And Big H...34 times? Damn..that's some good ish.

No problem to the cats who couldn't do it once, you'd be suprised at how many players at the combine can only rep it once or twice.

fair enough.

I usually do 12-20 reps on my warm-up for benchpress, then move to 225 and do 10-12 reps. and then move up again to 275 lbs for 5 reps, then 295lbs for 3 reps.

225?ok i dont feel so bad anymore with dudes talking about 300 plus and shyt.i mean i know some who obviously can but the majority are some "nah man i did that yesterday so i aint straining myself,u wasnt here"

i hate the bench but i want my chest to grow and doing push ups can only get me so far. i started at 140 about a month 2 months ago and i can do 200 about 8 times yesterday and im 5'8 170.

is that good for my size?

I f*cked around and got talked into it cuz my boy was trying to test me. We went at it; he b*tched out after 15 so I said f*ck it, I'll keep going. Before that I had never tried either; there is no real benefit to doing it on a regular basis.

dont sleep on pushups.

bout 2 years ago i did a pushup only routine of about 400 for my chest day. no free weights or machines at all. just pushups. in 6 weeks i went from a tough 135 for 15 reps to 195 for 12 with ease. 2 years later im so convinced of their benefit that I still do a few hundred pushups on chest day.

and yes, lifting more than your bodyweight is always a good thing.

who has the time to do 400 push ups? the first 100 might be easy with reps of 25 or quick reps of 10. But the time it will take to do the last 300 will exponentially increase. I ain't knockin it, just that is seems to be very inefficient.

The most i've done was 14 reps of 225lbs on first set after warmup set(this past monday)...but i average 13 reps

i dont do pyramid or drop sets with the bench...4 sets with 225 burnin out each one...right now i do 13-14 first set, 10-11 2nd set, 8 3rd set, and burn out at 7 or 8...

im 172 still..

oh and dam@34 reps....how much do you weigh to be benchin like that? Imma have to put that in the max calculator to see what type of max that is cuz that's just rediculous lol

*edit*

ok wait..maybe im missing something...maybe "combine style" is a different way of benching...if so...let me know...cuz i was thinkin regular touch chest with bar go up etc benching...i just put 34 in the rep max calculator and it says your max is 2724! Obviously this is not right...so what the fuk is goin on lol

LMAO. I weighed around 260 at the time. I wouldn't put a lot of faith into those rep max calcs either; they don't take a lot of factors into account. Mind you, I did that fresh (first lift), I was bulking, and I changed up my grip to allow my triceps and lats take some of the load too. Those calculators don't take alot of things into consideration. My max at that time was around 435.

LOL..mayne, I think those calculators are only good at estimates of up to 10 reps..maybe 12...but they definitely ain't gonna give you a good estimate for a one rep max of somethin' someone pushin' for 34 reps.

That's my max. But I still couldn't get with 34 reps.

well let's see... back then I was in the gym for 60 mins on chest/back day. 400 various styled pushups done in 16 sets of 25 did not take me an hour. and I was MUCH stronger (and not just on the bench) after a couple months of doing that on chest/back day. just throwing it out there. do what works fo ryou.

lol i feel you..but man...my max is 335...i cant get HALF of that number of reps yo..lol...plus the calc has been pretty accurate in my case..its only like 5-10 pounds off..cuz i put in 13 reps and it said something like 342...thats not far from my 335 max
