View Full Version : Is it better to do cardio first then tone or vice versa?

is it better to do cardio first then tone or vice versa? i don't lift weights (that much) but more along the lines of ab work and pilates classes. i just dont kno if it is more beneficial to do cardio before or after. does anyone have any idea?

I always do 15 minutes of cardio before I lift. I couldn't tell you the benefits but, I'm not as tired compared to doing it after. Its kind of like a boost for my workout.

It's not bad to do some form of light to moderate cardio prior to lifting, to get the blood circulating and muscles warmed up. I wouldn't do too much, cause you will just fatigue your muscles and the lifting wouldn't be as effective.

Second, I have a problem with the term "tone." It doesn't mean anything really. I think there are 5 or 6 possible defintions of tone in people's heads, and those definitions conflict each other. So, I purposely stay away from that word, cause if I use it and mean something by it, someone can have a totally different interpretation of it. Anyway, to make a long story short, there is no such thing as tone. And when you say cardio before toning, cardio can be considered toning to some since it helps burn fat, but you used it to describe lifting, which helps add mass. See the confusion!

yea. i just dont kno what else to call it. i guess strengthen my abs and other muscles.
