What kind of toys and tools do you use with your workout, if any?

I dont usually wear a watch, but realized one with at least a timer/stopwatch function would be handy while working out. Got recommendations?

Anyone keep their phone on em while working out? My phone has music and a stopwatch, but I dont think I want to wear it while working out. Pros/Cons to having your phone on you in the gym?

I usually leave my cellphone in the car when I go wrokout. Since when Im working out I don't like having any distractions, all my energy needs to be intune with the workout so I can get the best out of the exercises. I don't carry my watch to the gym either, just some bball shorts or jogging pants, a sleeveless shirt(or tank top), and some running shoes or weightlifting shoes(for squating, deadlifts, and olympic lifts)

I sometimes take my mp3 player as well. I have this tiny one that holds 30-50 songs and thats all I need. My Ipod is too big(Ipod video) so I don't see the point of taking it to the gym.

I copped the Nano Ipod for workouts, but I still use the video Ipod for cardio. Aside from the Ipods I don't use anything else when I hit the gym. Cell phones are certainly not needed in the gym; I hate seeing cats in there yackin on they phones takin up space and doing nothing. Whoever it is can wait until your finished with your workout.

oooh I didnt mean I would talk on my phone in the gym, I was just thinking I could use it for the stopwatch and the radio

so mp3 player is the "essential" item huh? lol.... I was thinking at least a sporty watch would be most common. hmmm :headphone:

I really do want to know how much I walk per day (a couple miles I'm guessing) but havent done any research into pedometer's yet.

I use my regular ipod when I do cardio...I usually just rest it on the machine, but I also have a clip on it so when I do the rower I just clip it to my shorts...I see alot of people with the nano, that seems like a good choice for the gym..

yea I agree that the phone isn't needed...does yours have headphone? were you planning on using it as an mp3 player?

a pedometer is good if you want to count your steps throughout the day...when I use the treadmill in the gym, I just measure my distance on the machine itself...

*scolds elle!*

hey my mom has a pedometer & she LOVES it...it's recommended you take 10,000 steps per day & by wearing the pedometer, some say you actually are more likely to walk b/c you wanna see those steps add up...

it's also said the average new yorker walks 5 miles per day...so if you live in a walkable city, a pedometer is great for tracking your distance.
