I don't even have to hear it to know that
a) it will be hyped as an incredble leap forward
b) it will be as bad or worse than the first two

i liked it a lot at first, but after the novelty of a new strokes album faded it stopped sounding so good.

I havent really heard the whole album but Juicebox is one of my fav songs at the moment
Worst of the three. It seems like they actually cared and had something to prove. When part of what made The Strokes interesting was the sense that they didn't care. Average album.

It sucked. It just sucks. No more intellectual explanation needed. I'm suprised I'm seeing it be reviewed as like 3 stars or 6/10. It's poop.
Here's some wild speculation as to why:
The people around them molded their first record into this incredible thing. You've got a band that sounds like a band who are incredibly talented and just got done listening to a bunch of Velvets, Pixies, Television and all that sh*t then they got put in the studio for a week.
So you've got this great album that didn't sell a bigillion records. Now the label wants a more commercial thing. Next album you get occasional moments of the flawed, fvcked up imperfection that makes rock beautiful.
This new record is this overdub orgy which isn't the band's strength at all. What are they trying to do - get them on VH1? I don't get it. And you can't tell me that this is the sound these guys would have if they had their choice...and if you do tell me that then they were a totall fluke and fraud from the first place.

Once again I was right. Changing my name to Bonestradamus.
i havent heard it yet but they're getting average reviews everywhere i see. I guess it would be hard to follow up their first 2 albums. Their first to albums were straight crack

from reading interviews, it seems to me like they are burnt out on the rock lifestyle. They're now coming back to human status, instead of rocker elite dilusion.. Pretty much meaning they've sobered up.
