I didn't here this song until probably 5-6 years ago. The first thing I, of course, recognized was the sample that was also used in Pos K's "I Got A Man".

I have a video of them doing That's The Joint during the closing credits of Saturday Night Live. Blondie was the musical guest that week and they must have brought F4 on to close the show. Most agree that was the first time a hip-hop perfermance was broadcasted live on a national scale.

wow! you didn't hear "it's the joint" until 5/6 years ago? i copped that back in 1980. the original version of the beat is from a taste of honeys rescue me,that also came out in 1980. i remember older people would say "they messing that jam up talking over it!" i also remember when the funky 4 plus 1 more was on snl,that was the winter of 1981 i was 13. it was the talk of jr high that monday for the black kids! that was THE first group or solo rap artist to perform on snl.
