eat less? heh.

Personally, I dont think there is a one-size-fits-all weightloss diet (I'm not an expert) but depending on how you are eating now, maybe you can cut or replace something that isnt doing you good?

My one friend stopped eating red meat and said the pounds melted off, but he was eating it 2-3 times a day... he's in shape now and has started eating it again, but less often.

I also heard if you are a soda drinker and you stop, you could lose several lbs over a year, depending on your habit.

My mom swears she lost weight by stopping putting cream in her coffee?! She hates to exercise and says she changed nothing else...

I have to restrict myself from eating chocolate to Friday's only (the snacks in my office are out of control) and am trying to cut out alcohol... still TBD if that is enough for me to see much difference, but I'm tryn

sorry this probably isnt that helpful, but, goodluck! eat your grains & veggies!

It seems like you're confused about what you want. Body fat=weight, no matter how you want to avoid it or how you see it. And you CANT get big and ripped at the same time, impossible. Whenever you gain muscle mass, you also gain fat, thats is just how the human body grows naturally. To gain (quality) mass the body requires alot of food and that has some fat in it(you want to eat low fat foods).

First, you should want to start a bulking cycle. Meaning gain weight(fat and muscle) by increasing daily calories by quite a bit and hit the weightroom lifting about 60-75% of your 1RM, in order to gain muscle mass. Lets say after you gain for example 20lbs or more, you get on a cutting clycle in order to strip the body fat and get "cut" or ripped. On a cutting cyle, you want to diminish the amount of calories you eat per day substantially(sp?) and workout. And while on a cutting cycle you should want to add more cardio into your workout routine(4 to 5 times a week). The cardio, along with the consumption of less calories should help you get rid of the body fat nicely. after you cut, the muscles you gained while bulking will be seen and you will be bigger than before you started bulking.

Now, it might take you quite a bit to gain the 20 or more pounds. or it might not, depends on your genetics, diet and exercise routine.

As far as food groups, you ought to incorporate foods with high protein, moderate to high carbs, moderate fiber, low fat(trasn fats), low cholasterol into your diet.
The general food sources should be: meat/steak/beef(lean meat), chicken brest, turkey, brown rice, pasta, baked potatoes, oatmeal, egg whites, milk, fish(salmon and others), tuna, etc. You should also stack on slow processing carbs such as vegetables, nuts, fruits.

Also try and get a hold of some supplements such as whey protein, creatine(esther), glutamine, multivitanimes, fish oil. Theres tons of supplements out there, but the most import is whey protein.

by cutting you will lose the body fat you put while you gained the 25 lbs. The muscle mass you gained will remain, trust me. Look at it this way, the 25lbs you put on, only about 20% of that weight is muscle the rest is fat and water. thats why when do a cutting cycle the focus is to lose the BF you put on while bulkyin..

bodybuilders bulk up and then cut, just like I mentioned before. Its a two phase process, anyone knowledgable on this subject will tell you the same thing. And without taking into account that bodybuilders workout with extremely high intensity, eat about 6000-10000 calories a day and take Anabolic steroids. But the process they go through is the same.

I also mentioned the foods to look for in my first response.

alright..so by cutting..how many lbs of the 25 do you think i'll lose?...i aint tryin to lose all that weight man. it's not even that i think i'll be weaker it's just that i aint tryin to get small again. but you said i will get bigger after cutting?..do you mean i'll lose weight, but my body will still get bigger?..and when i'm cutting should i up the amount of reps i do in weightlifting? right now, i lift as much weight that will allow me to do 4-6 reps...cause i was goin for strength, and i know when your bulking you gotta keep the reps low.

If your goal is to get ripped, you want to shoot for 10% body fat or less. So you should try and get your BF down 10% or lower than that and thats when most people are ripped/cut.

Yes, you will be bigger than before because the muscle mass you gain is not going to go anywhere unless your diet is very poor. Only the unwanted BF will go away during cutting depending on how much BF you want to lose.

You DON'T have to keep the reps low. You want to stay in the 8-12 rep range and lift about 60-65% of your max ( NOT too heavy as well). for muscle mass gain you want, you want to do 8-12 reps. For strenght gains, 1-4 reps(80-90% of your 1RM).

On the last sentence you say "cause I was going for strength". If you want just strength gains then you shouldn't be preocupied about getting ripped. You are very confused about yor goals.

yeah, i was lifting for strength at first, but now i'm tryin to switch it up. i'm tryin to get strong but lean at the same time. and what do you recommend for a stall in gaining. for real dude..i've completely stalled in bench right now. i've been doin 4-6 reps for like 6 months now, and for the last 2 months i've been on the same weight..i can't go anywhere...this $hit is disheartening like a muthafukka. i think it's cause i've been doin the same workout for the whole 6 months.(4 sets flat bench, 4 sets incline, 4 sets dumbells) would it would be coo to bench twice a week?..i was only benchin once a week cause i read when you benchin for strength to only bench once per week. same for biceps..my $hit seems to have stalled right now. thinkin about goin to 2 workouts a week now..especially now that i'll prolly up my reps. what do you think about that? and do you know of any way way to measure my body fat without buyin anything?..btw, what is 1RM?..my bad for all the questions..i'm just really tryin to get my $hit straight.

lol, You workout only once a week? and all you do is bench press?? And on top of that you want to get ripped?? Well, its not going to happen before you do some serious research on the subject of fitness exercise routine, structure and diet.

On this forum(fitness forum) theres a sticky thread up top about fitness/exercising and nutrition links(title: Fitness related websites(links)). You need to check that thread and check the links ASAP before you do anything.

And now Im starting to doubt that the 25lbs you put on is solid/quality(might just be all fat and water and maybe 6% muscle). Because if you only do bench press and nothing else you're never going gain any quality muscle mass. Your chest might get a little bigger but thats about it.

You need to workout all your body parts to have any significant gains. weightlifting is about variation and constant update as far as exercises otherwise you're not going to grow. Ever heard of muscle memory? You said you've been doing the same bench press routine once a week for six months, right? You defintely are not going to see any more growth, your pec muscles have gotten accustomed to those few exercises and aren't getting stimulated anymore. You to need to know more exercises in order constantly stimulate your muscles, AND WORK ON THE BODY PARTS AS WELL. Did you know that strong lats, delts and triceps help increase your bench press #s? working those body parts and others would be a smart thing for you to do.

1RM=1 rep maximum or "your max" at a certain exercise.

LOL..nah dawg..i work out everything, but the only $hit i've stalled in is bench & a little in biceps. everything else i'm increasing every week...back, shoulders, tri's....that's why i'm buggin out. and yeah, i know about muscle memory..but the thing is..i work out at home, and i only got access to an olympic bench and dumbells. i don't have all those weight machines like other people. what other workouts is there that i can do with just an olympic weight bench and dumbells?. would changin to a muscle mass workout instead of the same strength one help to stimulate more gains? i might be able to get a hook up with one of those butterfuly bench machines though..are those a real good chest workout?

Dude, you need a gym membership ASAP. For the muscle growth and strength goals that you want, you need variety of equipment(machine and free weights) at your disposal otherwise you ain't going to grow much.

If you can afford home equipment, you should be able to afford a gym membership.

Ayeee, my home gym can do bench presses, incline bench presses, ez bar curl, military presses, squats, leg hamstring curls, and dips. I have dumbells also. I don't think you need a gym if you have all that.
