First off, this is not meant to take away from Nirvana's legacy..They really are one of the greatest bands of all time..Their place in music history is well documented..But, IMHO, Alice in Chains is a much, much better band, all around..AIC's Jar of Flies EP is by far a much better album than anything Nirvana has ever released, including In Utero..All my friends consider it blasphemy to even compare the two bands and never give AIC their due credit..I was just wondering how many others feel the same way I do?..Seriously, Layne was a much better vocalist than Cobain, and don't get me started on Jerry Cantrell..Nirvana doesn't have a musician as talented as him..Let me know what you think, please tell me I'm not alone here...

I love AIC, but I don't know about that.

nirvana's influence overshadows their actual art...the music isn't much to write home about, they happened to strike a chord because they sounded and looked nothing like what was popular at the time.
I do have to give props where props is due, Nirvana Unplugged is legit.
Musically, AIC > Nirvana, but AIC wouldn't be where it is without Nirvana

I like Nirvana's sound better than AIC.
AIC was too drowned in the "i hate my father, i have no friends, i want to slit my wrist" sound to be appealing to me.
Lyrically, Nirvana epitomized the rebelious-intellect, fitting those damaged lyics into great pop songs.
The two really shouldn't even be compared.

Nirvana has got to have the most bizarre musical legacy of the 90's. It's completely un-debateable that they were the most important band of the 90's, but to claim that they were the best band of the 90's is highly debateable.

Gee..Here I was thinking I could get some sort of articulate debate going on here..Instead, I get responses like "I must be smoking or crack" or "I am incredibly stupid" for stating such a preposterous notion that there is possibly a better band out there than Nirvana..Thank you all for proving my point..Nirvana stans are just as bad as Tupac fans..Not taking anything away from Cobain or Shakur, but how much of an impact would either of them had had if they were still around today?..Just a thought..Just my two cents, keep the change..Oh, and I agree with your comments Deuce_One all the way...
