you need to listen closer
TRue e-40 has terrible delivery (actually once you get used to it hes got flow) but if you listen to the lyrics youll realize quickly hes the only real gangsta rapper ever
Give him another chance and really listen cuz hes seriously underrated

DJ Quik & Too Short.
Both from the Bay.
And as much as people hate to accept it, 2pac is a product of the Bay.
Last time I checked they were pretty good.

even tho BK is a fool and is mad prolly cuz he got dissed by that myspace chick, i'll still respond to this misconception..
each region in hip-hop is on their own sh!t these days, with the exception of whatevers popular in the mainstream (50, ying-yang, whatever)..but the bay loves the hyphy sh!t cuz thats the scene out here..going out, sideshows, block parties, clubs wherever and drankin and smokin that purple..its party music and if u didn't get that, then u prolly never listened to it in the first place or are a square who spends ur nights and weekends on SOHH..
just how the bay area doesn't like or respect a lot of east coast sh!t (LOX, the WU, Beanie Sigel, Mobb Deep, Cam'ron), u don't like ours..rappers are a product of their environment and if u can't relate to them or their music, then obviously u won't feel it..
as far as E-40 goes, think of him as the west coast Ghostface..hated by some, loved by many..dude has had too many classics ('1 love' 'sprinkle me' 'captain save a ho' 'hurricane' 'playas ball' 'hope i don't go' etc. etc.) over the years and laid such an imprint on the game that u can't hate on him..dude is a pioneer and a living legend in the west
and like i've said before..i'm not really feelin a lot of the hyphy music (its coo for partying but not to listen to on the regular), but i respect it b/c people are finally collaborating to create a movement out of the bay that has a real possibility of transferring to the mainstream..
and btw..2pac was the best product of the Bay coming from Marin City

anyways you cant front on the classics put out by The Coup, Pac, Short,
E-40, Mac Dre, Luniz, Andre Nickatina etc etc etc
The Bay dont make sh1t for everybody, they make sh1t for the Bay, and if youre feelin it then good, but otherwise keep your mouth shut about the dopest independant scene in the country.

i guess i don't know for sure but he shouts out the bay so much i think he counts
bay doesn't go along with alot of things
That rocking ICE? never gave a crap about it.
Mob sh1t? whatever
Nice rides? They sport 4 door hoops or big blocks like cougs, stangs, larks, cuttys, etc.
hair? Them and N.O. seems to be the only ones sporting dreads these days.
That guy on the corner with the hole in his clothes and the hair with leaves in it? he's holding a couple grand.
This is a world away from what i see in LA. Kinda a culture shock when I first came. Everyone in LA seems to live beyond their means. up north a car aint sh1t but something to break and buy another. in LA image seems to be everything.
They bay don't even really know other music or culture is out there (exaggeration), this is what they do, they like it and thats pretty much it. let them do their thing who cares.
Davis is probably more like sac but Sac although kinda far is like the bay in a way. they share the same culture, music tastes, and have alot of affiliations.. oh and they still get blacked out for Raider games haha!

i went to college in davis..that town is in no way a part of the Bay Area..thats sacramento territory and its country as fukk..got corn fields for days and the tallest building is 6 stories high..its not the same scene as the bay
lyrics born grew up there but he moved and connected himself in the bay so he gets a pass..

i don't think people understand how much of a hip-hop city SF is either..the Dj'ing scene is huge and theres still a lot of breaking and tagging crews..the fundamentals of hip-hop are still alive and thriving in the Bay

You Bay Area dudes don't get it. We all know that there's a certain amount of quality that's out of the area, it's called Quannum. Y'all only pull that out and claim as a last resort, don't be acting like those guys are what's popular over there, we all know it's that weak ass hyphy sh!t and whtever you call the travesty that is E-40 and his crew.

I corrected him saying he wasn't from the Bay area which is a fact. I didn't say he didn't rep the Bay area. My point was that he wasn't FROM the Bay area. So how the fuk do I have no point? you got to be a Certified Idiot to shyt on the BAY, regardless of their current state, their LEGACY cannot be denied, all this pimp shyt and slang (fo shizzle, pop ya collar) came from the bay.
Master P. created a simplified commercial version of the Bay Sound and Culture not to mention the INDEPENDENT GAME was first established in the BAY AREA..........as for E-40 say what you want the boy is original and ain't hurting in the pockets, puts his emphasis into REAL ESTATE not the old cliche' hip hop clothing line.

Maybe pop ya collar but not that fo shizzle sh!t. I heard it some funk record from Ohio from the 70's. The thing about Bay slang is that they are the first to take credit for it, that doesn't mean they created it. It's the same as people acting like Columbus found America, nah he just claimed he did.

What does them not selling records have to do with their opinion on what real hip hop is? KRS could hide in a cave for 1,000 years and come out and still know what hes talking about when it comes to hip hop.
Where is dilated from? Evidence and Babu are from Southern California I believe. Not sure where the other guy is from.

obviously u don't "all know there's a certain amount of quality" if dudes are hating on the Bay Area all over this board and in this thread, which was created solely to hate on us..
if u read my previous posts, i made it clear that hyphy is the movement out here, i didn't try to portray it any other way, just shed light on the fact that dj'ing and other true elements of hip hop that are lost in a lot of other cities are alive and popular in the Bay..they might not get played a lot at the clubs, but they sell-out shows and have a strong following nonetheless
and besides that how the fukk u know what poppin out here?? whens the last time u came to the Bay, if ever..just b/c u might know somebody here or read an article here and there don't mean u know whats up..just like i don't really know the NY scene (outside of the mainstream) y'all don't know about the Bay scene..
i don't think u could name 5 hyphy songs and u judging it already b/c u don't like 40..
