smh

Damned if I didnt hear this song "Tear You Apart" on the radio and think it was the new Interpol single.

Do bands have no shame?

I haven't heard this yet, I'll give it a listen though.

And hell no bands don't have shame.

That was what it reminded me of, the first time I heard Honest Mistake.

I haven't heard any other songs from these guys...since Im pretty sure they just decided to make music and/or got a record contract in the last year. But at least on this song, the singer is just trying extra hard to do the whole monotone voice thing.

Ok, I listened to this. If I was just flipping through the radio I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. But the instrumentation isn't as good and the monotone doesn't seem natural like it does in Interpol.

Disgusting.

Yeah the Casio percussion is the biggest difference. When I heard it on the radio I caught maybe the last 40% of it, mostly the chorus...so I was shocked and appalled when the dj came on like "That's one from a really cool new band..."

smh

I just listened to the Editors record and it seems as if they're rippin' Interpol also.

I havent heard a lot from them but you may be correct. I hear a lot of Michael Stipe in the singer's voice as well.

These dudes used to be djs so they completely changed their game up. I thought it was Interpol on the radio too, I just found out it wasnt them like a week ago.

Jet is a rip off because their first single was Iggy's song "Lust for Life", just suckier.

I don't get this at all.

I'm basing this only on "soul meets body" (I'm not familiar with anything else they've done) which has the whole melodic college rock sound of REM and the singer sounds very much like Michael Stipe to me. I may be alone in thinking this however

Yeah I dont hear it at all.

Clem, you were right about the Editors, though. Ive been listening to the album...songs like Camera and Open Your Arms are so similar to Interpol its crazy...

Man pretty much 99% of modern mainstream rock music is recycled, unorriginal cow turd by all these shiitty "the" bands. Interpol are defintely one of the few ones I like...but honestly these bands like the strokes, artic monkeys, bravery and what are just indistinguishable. Rock music is in a worse state than hip hop in my opinion.

Dont know if I'd go THAT far...

Strokes dont belong with those other bands, either...

At least theres some good hip hop shiit popping of right now especially in the underground. Rock really has nothing, mainstream or obscure - bands like Radiohead have even rejected a rock sound. But honestly I feel that way largely because I enjoy hip hop a lot more than rock for the most part.

And The Strokes are terrible. Yeah they might be a little better than their copy cat bands but they still can't play music for shiit. It was over after their first album which was mediocre anyway.

I think that's it. Radiohead hasnt "rejected a rock sound", their last album was more traditional than the last few. They experiment a lot, yes...but its still rock.

There's still tons of great music being made in every forum...you disagree, you're either not looking hard enough or you're not a fan of the genre in general.

The Strokes get so much hate lol...their new album is their best one IMO.

I can't buy into that whole "such and such genre" is weak right now. If you want to find good stuff you'll find it. That goes for hip-hop and rock.

Some nice irony for ya: Just heard the singer from the band used to be a rapper
