i can't even begin to get into how much i love this album. i've been listening to it non-stop for the past 2 days. the strokes came through with a real winner this time. i'm not sure how the departure in their original sound will translate in sales, but who the f*ck cares when there's music this good.
julian's lyrics show a real improvement from prior efforts, especially on Ize Of The World, which might be their best song yet.

-Ize Of The World... are all INCREDIBLE songs. i'm sure that pitchfork and all the hipster publications will unfairly review the album, and most likely tear it to shreds, just because they all love to hate the strokes. regardless, this is the best rock album to come out in a while.

Pitchfork were pretty much the only ones that didnt destroy Room on Fire when they reviewed it (think it got 8), but i imagine that they and everyone else will totally rape this album (based on my flicking through the songs)

i havent actually listened to the whole album properly yet, but Ize Of The World is indeed a great song

This isn't the greatest rock album to come out in a while. I think when people critique The Strokes they can't do it soley based on the the music. They aren't original in the least, they're never going to release another Is This It?, and they were were credited, maybe unfairly, with the whole rock revival. All that being said.. this album isn't terrible. I was never a Strokes fan to begin with. After one listen it sounded nice enough.

Yeah I basically have 2 releases around 26 songs. One is called Beneath the Boardwalk and another Arctic Monkeys.. I'm guessing they're just made up titles.

This album they try to let everyone know they can really play music. But instead of making the album better it makes it worse. Part of what was endearing about The Strokes was that they were a bunch of rich assholes not playing their instruments very well, but churning out hits anyway. Now it's like they care.

i listened to tracks 1-6 so far and i'm pretty impressed with track six i believe(might have been 5)....thats the BEST strokes song i've heard in my life....The guitar work is pretty damn catchy so far as well

I loved their first album. It was the perfect music to dance in your room with like a loser. I just heard one of their new songs and it took me by surprise-totally different style-I didn't like it.

But I'll have to check the rest of the album, might be some good songs on there.
