How do you all feel about this album? It's the second BN album after Puba and Alamo stepped aside to do their own thing.

I remember when it came out in 92.

First of all the version of "Punks Jump Up to Get Beat Down" that we all know and love wasn't on there, instead, there was a suspect remix.

The rest of the album was alright, but nothing mindblowing like the first LP.

Its a 3.5 mic LP IMO. If the 12" version of "Punks Jump Up to Get Beat Down" was on there, it would have been a 4 mic album.

link violation!!! lol (I think I only bought this on cassette :( )

but yeah, it would have been better with the 12"(and music video) version of "Punks Jump Up...". "Pass The Gat" and "Love Me or Leave Me Alone" are hot too. Overall, I dont remember anything else that stood out. I just remember it being an aiight album.

I will add Sadat and Lord Jamar carried on well w/o Puba. Especially Sadat.

i duno what youre talkin about man, the album I have has the version I knew and loved when the single dropped. The only remix I know of is the Diamond D one which was different but not that special

i love this album, Pass The Gat is easily as in your face as Punks plus Steal Ya Hoe, Alla U Akbar, Love Me Or Leave Me, Black Star Line...great stuff

I was real concerned when I heard Puba had left and they were taking a different tact with the album but its' every bit as good as One For All to me

the mood of the album doesnt affect the quality IMO, beats are every bit as good and Lord Jamar really stepped it up

1. Do you have a retail copy or a burned copy?

2. Did you purchase this recently or back in 92 when it came out?

3. Do you own the vinyl, cassette or CD?

The reason I ask this question is because it is/was common knowledge that the "good version" of "Punks Jump Up..." isn't on the album.

There are 3 versions of the song

1. The Original 12" version with the Lou Donaldson "Hot Dog" beat
2. The Diamond D Remix w/ the "theme from Rocky" horns
3. The Lp version

In God We Trust was relesed on Vinyl as promo only, But it was eventually re-issued. Not sure if the vinyl re-issue has the original 12" version.

Peeps I knew back in the day collected cassette tapes. I know the original 12" version wasn't on the cassette.

I guess it could have been on the CD. I didn't know anybody who collected CDs back in 92, so I can't say.

"We be the squad Farad taught to rule...."

^^^^^Just for the record, that line is from "Word is Bond" which was on the third LP, Everything is Everything(1994), not In God We Trust(1992).

yeah I do know that, its just my favourite Jamar line, I guess I didnt articulate that very well

I bought the cassette the week the album dropped and as far as I was concerned the LP version is my favourite - i could give a monkeys arse what the perceived 'good' version is lol. I got the 12" years later and I dont see anything on it thats 'better' than the LP just different IMO

bought this used a few years back, pretty solid. punks jump up & love me or leave me alone were classic

but i think 'everything is everything' is better. i ignored that one when it came out, didnt really like the singles. but its gotta be one of the most underrated albums...

This album was cool, they had some classic cuts on there, most have been mentioned already. They should have put the video version of "Punks Jump Up" on there though. Diamond D did a hot remix for that track too, even that one wouldve been better than the one on the album.

Godo album though.

Near Classic. Pass The Gat, Punks Jump Up, Steal Ya Hoe. Allah U Akbar, Love Me or Leave Me Alone, Steady Bootleggin' , Black And Blue and so on. A great album from a consistent group.

One For All - 5.0
In God We Trust - 4.5
Everything Is Everthing - 4.5
Foundation - 4.0
Fire In The Hole - 3.0

A personal classic to me.

This was one the first purchasers i copped along with other classic at the time.

To me is a 4.5 mic album. Very hard album. Conscious and street wise at the same time.

When i first copped this album, i was didn't even know that Brand Nubian originally consisted of Grand Puba so it didn't affect my listening of this album and so i listened to this album with pure open ears. It wasn't until later than my home boy told me that Grand Puba was originally part of Brand Nubian and that they broke up.

Anyways, In God We Trust is not as good as One for All, but still In God We Trust is a personal classic to me.

BTW: Everything is Everything was trash.... i threw that CD in the trash literially.....shyt was Brand Nubian trying WAY too hard to be gangsta and vile.....dissappointing.

eveything is everything was too gangster? You mean like Nubian Jam and Word Is Bond? lol In God We Trust was way harder as an album.

EisE is like a concept album to me the way all the tracks have a slow feel, they don't all work but what about The Cypher, Lick Dem, Sweatin Bullets and the incredible Claimin Im A Criminal

love that album to def

Hah--one of my favorite Jamar lines is "I told that ass to chill and it's still cold/Frozen cause they're not amongst the chosen ones." Sadat was hilarious with "I push a Cadillac Seville and still be real/I drive a garbage truck/And not give a ...."

Everything is Everything was a hot album, but I wasn't big on "In God We Trust."

i liked it better than one for all. the travel jam, punks jump up remix, pass the gat, allah and justice, love me or leave me alone, allah u akbar, ain't no mystery...pretty much everything on there i dug.

everything is everything, and one for all were cool too. it was when they dropped foundation that they fell off.
