we'd get on our bikes and start rollin'
curising the city 'til i got mine stolen
we'd play strike out against the viaduct
we were buds so we'd hang out a lot
jerrelda was her name and she had our hearts
competed for her until she moved off the block
we'd walked to school when there was no bus fare
no one messed with one of us they didn't have a prayer
neither family had much money but it didn't seem to matter
wouldn't let a thing like that cause our dreams to shatter
got a job together and with our first check we got drunk
started going our seperated ways and the friendhip shrunk
i eventually moved from around the way still stop by some
but all the bangin' and slangin' i now try to stay away from
when we see each other a brother always needin' some change
i give it up when i can but hey man you know how things change
i remember when i'd stop through the reception was warmer
now i get the cold shoulder from the brothers on the corner
so skinny that through your shirt you see the outlinning of your ribs
ripped your old lady off so much that she kicked you out the crib
sleepin' in abandoned buildings and cars 'cause you a drug abuser
and about to do some serious time for being a three time looser
we were shocked to see it go down at me you wouldn't look
although i don't stop by and holler i do put dust on the books
