some of mine have also, and im not even that old... they dont like anything thats dropped lately (nor do i) and have started to listen to alot of rock and soft rock shiit... most of them will listen to older things though, but not the ones that have only listened to hiphop for couple years ... now im not even really listening to alot of newer stuff, im just coppin alot from the 80s and early 90s...
i feel like an old man tho trashing majority of the new stuff that comes out and saying, damn, i wish the music would be more like it when i was growing up...
I'm feeling alot of older stuff now(hip hop)
but i still like some of the new ish, but alot of it is trash.
only thing is my memory LOST
cause i don't remember names
of songs
groups ect
until i hear it again...then it takes me back.
peace

yeah..
People still listen to ghostface, Jay, Doom, Nas, Saigon, etc..
But its mostly digging and trying to find gems that we haven't heard before.

im finding as I get older that I have less time for music thats purely about how rough and tough someone is unless its done really well and I think a lot of my friends are the same

Almost all of my friends are, but it's to a lesser extent than what it used to be. I guess when I think about it, I probably fell off a lot too.

i will always be Hiphop but if you are referring to the music YES i have found myself and my friends exploring other genres. Not just cause the current product is mostly garbage (IT IS) but I guess as you get older you want to expand your horizons

I dont know anyone who liked hiphop and then stopped liking it, that concept is foreign to me... tastes change, horizons expand, but your sh1t is still your sh1t, even if you're not geeked out on it like you once were.

Yep!!!
Me and my circle still enjoy large amounts of hip-hop in our music collection. Now, that we are older, it's a lotta things we can overlook as far as lyrics and musicial quality and just enjoy it for the sake of enjoying it.
When we were younger , we spent time trying to decipher the messages, if there were any. We don't have that kind of time now.
Plus as you get older, you find yourself being drawn to other genres of music like jazz, rock, blues, new age, etc. :headphone

basically how i feel.
im starting to listen to conservative talk radio...like i cant listen to hot 97 or power 105 at all...and if theres a sport game on radio while im away from tv(driving) that has my intrest i will tune in also...i feel'n some the new stuff but its wierd cuz i remember when i was a kid i use to think older folk was corny listen'n too they old school joints...now i think the younger cats is corny for front'n and floss'n like they part of they favorite rap crew (dipset) (g-unit) (d-block) etc. i mean when i was young if you had a gucci suit and some fly addidas you was a drug dealer or wore that shyt when your 20+ deep with family or friends..now these young cats rock 150 doller sneakers and walk dolo in the streets safely..in the mid 80's you was walking home in your socks,if they where official nike socks you walking home barefoot...im not rant'n or anything cuz i understand kids must follow trends, but these new generation hip-hop kids sometimes could use a reality check cuz they worship cats that be front'n hard on the mic themselves

What keeps me going right now...is diggin' for the originals of samples/or songs that the artists used in their tracks..
Case in point...BDP's "Edutainment"...the title cut...The ten second loop used throughout the song, come to find out that it's a loop taken from The Skatalites' "Man In The Street"...
I listen to hiphop but not like I used too....I tend to listen to older hiphop than the latest stuff out now because I think it's garbage. As far as friends it's the same thing....not enough quality out there anymore. I've been gravitating towards other genres of music more and more. Doesn't mean I don't love hiphop, but today's version especially on the radio is not appealing.
From the people that I am still kool with since back in the day, only a hand full still love hip hop. The rest I'd say just go with the flow of whatever is popular. One thing that is kinda wack though; aside from my brothers only about 1 other person close to me is really into hip hop like I am.
I don't mind the new stuff at all. It's funny to me cuz I'm not even in my 30's yet (I have a couples years before I hit that #) and there seems to be a cut off age for a lot of people. Things are much different nw than when we were in our teens.

I barely listen to hip-hop anymore.
Just a few classic groups from the past.. Other than that I think I've lost interest in the majority of it.

I got one homeboy who loved hip hop to death but now is experimenting with other ****. I ain't really fond of the garbage that is playing now, nothin compares to the ATCQ but I still look for gems that still catch my ear. Still catch myself to jammin to ATCQ, Slick Rick and Scarface.

yeah it seems most of my friends are falling out of it, and i'm only 24. most new friends i meet aren't in to it either. sh!t, i listen to barely any of the new stuff my self, i'm just clinging to stuff that dropped like 10 or so years ago. it's kinda depressing.
tastes have diversified, but yeah. i can still get them into some new ****, and they still love the old stuff too (from Run-DMC to P.E. to Tribe to Nas to whatever)

Recently I had someone (close to my age, 35) challenge me as to why I still listen to Hip Hop. I had to explain I've been listening since I was 9 years old. Why stop now? I don't spend any time defending the bullsh!t that's coming out these days. Sh!t I listen mostly now for the beats. I guess the kid in me still likes hear that bump from my system while I'm driving.
If you grew up in the 80's, Hip Hop is a part of you. Generation X is Hip Hop's original audience. I will always love and listen to REAL Hip Hop, but never rap.
