This guy is amazing. Unlike many rock singers that sound like they are always screaming, Cornell can sing his ass off. All his **** with Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, his solo and now with Audioslave amazes me. While the Audioslave songs aren't as good as the old stuff, his voice is still good. Tell me your thoughts on him!

Definitely. Audioslave is no Soundgarden but he can still sing his ass off.

Great, great, great singer. Absolutely terrible lyricist.

i haven't heard but one song off the latest album, but there were a couple of well written songs on the first Audioslave album. but back on topic, while cornell is singing, he looks as though it's nothing to him. crazy. Reminds of that dude from Disturbed... that nonchalant "dude-i'm-not-even-trying" look.

Aside from a few sub-par performances, his lyrics are almost always great. Nothing mindblowing, but still solid.

Who would u guys say is a better singer? I'm not that too deep into the rock/grundge but his voice stood out to me. Cobain is still my fav because the of his lyrics and emotion but Cornell is a better singer.

NAh. IF you listen to the lyrics alone, dude sucks. He gets an adequate feel because of his incredible voice but lyrically he's the worst of all major rock singers right now and was the worst of all the Seattle bands.

that one song, blackhole sun, the fukk was that about??? i forgot all the lyrics, except for the chorus. i remember that a friend of mine used to use that song for a debate in favor of hip-hop music; back then, i listened to it all, but he didn't - some friends of ours who had a band didn't like hip-hop music and bashed the lyrics; his arguement was that rappers were simply talking about what they saw and speculated "that muthfukka aint never seen no blackhole sun!!!!"

I think its the other way around...
His voice doesnt sound good for the band... His lyrics are usually onpoint...
I just dont know if anyone can replace Zack..
Thats like replacing the RHCP lead singer with someone else...

I'll agree that Soundgarden is better...but Rage's self titled album >>> any Soundgarden album.

Might be true..
Thing is I can only listen to a whiny voice so much...
Zack has far better replay value.
I mean, Ill be bumping the 1st rage album till I'm an old man...
I just listen to the audioslave instrumentals..

Whats so hard about not liking him on AS?
Hes got a great catalogue...
Euphoria Morning was better than the AS stuff..
Cornell over AS instrumentals just aint some peoples cup of tea.
Badmotorfinger shyts on the audioslave albums..
Any SG album makes the AS look pretty weak..
You really think Out Of Exile was that great?
The first as album was memorable for the Morello solos...

I liked the title track Out of Exile alittle more... Found the bass riff from Tim Bob quite addicting...

I've only just recently given Soundgarden a chance--"Black Hole Sun" traumatized me when I was in junior high school (I turned on MTV after school to check out what this "rock" stuff was, and the visuals had me convinced that all white people were insane for the longest time).
I really don't like the band...lyrics...OR his voice that much. But I'm giving it a chance. The Superunknown album is long as hell, so it'll take some time to get into, if at all.
But to cut to the chase, this is silly--almost nobody has a better voice than Glen Danzig in the Misfits. I haven't had a chance to hear Danzing now that he's 50 and old, but I'm gonna try to get tickets to Halloween this year.
