I was playin' "Latin Lingo" tonight in the car. I had to double check the credits, I think it said arond 91 or 92, couldn't believe it.

Solid example of too much money and a drug problem can do. Shame they don't make music like that anymore.

Word. That was the joint. Hand on the Pump was so ill to me. I was working at a dog food distributor/store. I was like 13/14 when that came out. When I was stocking the shelves in the store they had some lite fm station on and all they would play was Duke of Earl so the song by cypress used to bug me out

yeah no doubt, their first LP was a classic. I also liked the 2nd one cuz it had insane in the brain and hits from the bong. but the first one could be played almost all the way through with no FF use.

Muggs repped on their debut so well it isn't even funny. Put it today it still sounds fresh. Not dated at all.

I don't f*ck with nothing of theirs except for the first two.

This album should be mentioned in the "Illest 3 songs to begin an album" thread, but I think that's over at AHH.com

I dunno if its the drugs/money or if its just the fact that you can only make so many weed songs.

Still Cypress Hill has been a good group and very successfull for a long long time. Last few albums though, mannnnnnnnnn

whole album was hot

HAHAHAHAHA @ kao stocking dog food and reciting to "hand on the pump" in his head

"real estate" was my sh1t

I liked that joint they had on the Juice soundtrack too, "shoot 'em up"

One year they were getting play in the tape decks of every n1gga I knew

the next year they were getting play by preppy white kids taking bong hits.... crazy

Us white boys out here have been bumping them since they came out. Now the preppy ones...they came after the mtv videos.

Cypress Hill is still very good to see live. Ive seen em 4 seperate times and none of the shows have been the same.

The Hill kinda crossed over to the Alt. Rock genre. Their debut was the sh*t and none of the other stuff even comes close; BUT, they made lot's of other good hip-hop songs. I wouldn't say money or a drug problem had anything to do with the fact that their first album is dope and the others are just okay. It's hard to duplicate something that is original and some-what ground-breaking. DAS EFX is a prime example (Jay-Z didn't have much success when he was tongue twisting). I got love for the Hill, I wore their tee's and moshed at their shows. They rec'd alotta airplay on modern rock radio here in Philly. If we write off the Hill b/c they crossed over we gotta write off Everlast/House of Pain, Ice-T, and the Beastie Boys too; Maybe even Clef and the Fugee's. the early to mid 90's was the lollapalooza/alternative era of music in general. I was glad to see hip-hop (my main music love) be a part of it.

I went to see Cypress/Funkdoobiest/LOTUG right as Black Sunday dropped in the UK, I had already copped it in Florida months earlier (UK heads remember that? waitin months to see if somethin would get a UK release then buyin the import anyway...I digress)

Me and my cousin were mad surprised to see loads of rock dudes there...hadnt even realised it was crossin over even then

but yeah Shoot Em Up and the debut album were class...I remember seein them on Yo! and B Real talkin about 'we're just B Boys'...that really got me into hearin what at the time seemed like pretty out there hiphop
