more memories:
the all-freestyle show when they played a tape of nothing but freestyles then premiered a track by this "new ill kid" called big L -devils son!
artie fuqua always showing up and getting dissed..same with king emz..and benny
artifacts and TOTAL PACK freestyles
anytime cage and/or necro showed up...
callers calling into freestyle..they say 2 bars and sear starts making loud farting noises to drown them out
kool g rap calling up and playing his song with mf grimm over the phone( i think it was for that aids awareness album...and then kool g rap and sear snapping on each other
remember when they would get tired and sign off early cuz luckily the "jazz man" was there!!
they had another show that came on briefly on tuesdays from 1 to 5 that played hip hop as well as original samples...it was d.j.ed by the guy that was the cashier at footwork...cant remember his name
and of course the countless freestyles...

Natural E also had a female at one point named the elementress. They had huge huge potential.a butta was just a lyrical dude.Mr Voodoo was the weakest an L swift had the best voice.
I can still barely tell the difference between A Butta and L Swift. They sound almost exactly alike.

Wha?? Voodoo was the illest. He sounded like KRS, but just with a stern speaking tone, no variations in his delivery.
L-Swift was so sharp with the rhyme schemes that you almost didn't notice it.

[QUOTE=fcara]Stretch produced that n the joint for Big Noyd that he played 4 like a year straight, the remix joint, Suspect or some sht like that
YO... do you have his "Episodes of a Hustla" remix???? It never came out, it samples from that song "Changes" (the one that goes "thats just the way it is"... then has the piano part). That shyt is still stuck in my mind after all these years.

I know she changed her name b4 or after she left Natural E... but maybe there were two females. I remember some chick named Spider for some reason, but i think i'm wrong. There a guy that post here who would know supposedly... lol
I think back there were so many good 12" that were played only on that station that we will never hear again, the fcked up sht is I don't know the artist or da title of the song, I do rember so good ones from some Brooklyn cats in like 96, like 3 different ones, one was the Tried by 12, Carried by 6 joint that Biggie used for I gotta Strory to Tell
Remembers Havoc up there with the ASR playin the Infamous straight from the machine
AKinelyle was a classic character on that show, he had some of the illest freestyles, Stretch supported him hard

cant cosign, I mean I agree bob was on some "nerd rap" steez eventually, but Stretch, his show was ass too... dude was not playing nothing BUT queenbridge music, and that one beanie seagle joint he played at the start of every show on hot97... honestly they really fukked up cuz neither of them could maintain the magic they had as a team when they went independent...
C/S
They were a great mix together but apart they both suffered. Just like EPMD. lol

The sample is from Paradise, thats what the loop was sayin, its a slow MJ record from like 87, 88
I been lookin 4 an MP3 copy 4ver, that came out in 97, they played it 1nce on 89.1 WNYU
here's a treat for y'all cats fiending for that remix. it was ill enough to make one of my slept on gems compilations that i made awhile ago and here's an mp3 of it.

between 96-99 Natural E was great guest but not the best .there are so many classic moments....in 1994 I thought artifact were the best guest.
Another Martin Moore CLASSIC....I got TAPES when A-BUTTER would call the show up from ST. JOHNS UNIVERSITY cuz he was studying for finals...He would call every showand freestyle and one day NE was in the studio I think it was L-Swift, Obsession, and a couple of others Charlamagne and they told him to come down to the studio and thas how he hooked up with them by rhyming over the phone every show and callin....

Yeah i remember some caller requesting Hey Mr Mister at the end of the show he played it on and Stretch telling him he can't play it anymore and them getting into a big argument.
Stretch was like, "I know it seems like we can play whatever we want up here but we really can't."

Also Fruitmeat Records - dropped the HEAVENLY Vinia Mojica 12", Spanish Harlem Orchestra's La Banda (which I NEED), and some other ish.

I think they both actually doing well for themselves, I know at one point in the late 90s stretch was one of the most well paid DJs in the world, while bob wasnt really going places, now bob seems to have really made a niche for himself in the sneaker/streetball marketing realm...

In the entire decade of the 90s I taped 89.9 every thursday faitfully from 1-5AM.I would put 1 hour cassettes an stay up until 3 in the morning tapeing then fall asleep tapeing the last hours......there is no great NYC mc that I dont have ripping it up before they blew up.When I went away to college I would have my little brother tape it for me.I have a collection second to none.Bobbito likes the wierd garbage spaced out MCs.the best shows was when it ws just stretch because he played banger after banger...you always knew stretch was gonna play some brand new sh1t from you fav artist that you never heard before.I would go to the rock steady anniversaries every year an all these white boys would have they tapes playing out they radio .thinking they had iller sh1t than me but I would always have a tape that no ne else had because I taped everything...even those wack as$ call up freestyle bobbito would let the callers do at the end of the show. When stretch got a show at hot 97 in 1996 I tape all his shows until 2001.
no one on this site has an iller tape collection of boogie an the barber 89.tek 9 than me.
plays classic artifacts freestyle over the fuggees nappy heads remix an laughs cause no one on sohh has ever even heard the freestyle.

Bob is my man, he just bought a dope apartment in Harlem. Bobbito is about his paper he just never flaunts it. He has more than a couple of hustles. I was never cool with Stretch at all. Last time i saw him was at Beanie's album release party for 'The Reason' kicking it to some PR girl. lol Stretch best DJ venue, he repped hard at El Flimingo in mid to late 90s.

Little known fact, when Hot 97 changed formats from freestyle guido music to Hip Hop they offered the lead DJ position Funkmaster Flex wind up getting to Stretch and Bob. Stretch and Bob turned it down cause Hot would not let him keep doing college radio. My how the history of the music would be different right now.
