Save The Babies

as soon as i walked thru the door they all started staring
the look on their faces made their thoughts so transparent
i could tell they were sizing me up while contemplating my agenda
did i come to wreck havic or was i the long awaited avenger
i knew it was important for me to show confidence and be direct
for that was the way to gain their trust and also their respect
i turned i looked them straight in the eye and said where 's the sorcerer
follow the gems besetting the path was said in a harmonic mantra
as i ventured on i heard a sinester laugh coming from afar
then a creepy voice cried out something like i know who you are
see many have come before you and many will come again
i gaurantee and you will see that you can't save the children
for they have lost much and have been through that which is worst than war
parents have left them they've given them away and just don't love 'em anymore
so avenger save them if you wanna but where's this nirvana you're taking 'em to
alas i placed my sword back in it's sheath for i knew that what he said was true
because nothing is worst than a parents scorn
feeling resented form the day that you were born
it hurts like hell but and if you can adapt to the pain
and even if you deal with it life just ain't the same
as i turned to leave i heard a victorious laugh
the kids cried out where you going don't leave us they were all teary eyed
i stopped and said i'll be back i'm going to get help we all knew that i just lied
as i walked to the door i took out my sword
turned and race down the hall and with a mighty roar
i swung my sword and cut off the sorcerer's head
lead the young ones from captivity and soon the word spread
they now reside in the wilderness roaming the land at night
free to make their own choices 'cause it's their human right


There have been a rash of new born babies found dead in my city, babies being left on church steps and hospital laundry rooms. I just wanted to say that we got to stop this madness, man! We're killin our future big time...

This pulled me right in, no kidding, I was right there, just like in a good movie, with you (The Avenger) in the dark red cavern (That's how I saw it!) and the Sorcerer. So props for the skillful prose! #2, I continue to be inspired by the social criticism aspect to your writing; alas my writing tends to be more narrow-minded; all about my unbeloved state! Anyway! I liked the imagery with the sword and I also liked:
"they now reside in the wilderness roaming the land at night
free to make their own choices 'cause it's their human right"
I love the fantasy aspect here; it's fresh and unique. As always hj, your writing enlightens and entertains. (Guess you could say I'm a fan!) Take care and peace!

Hey Skatethewall, Thank You very much! That makes two of us, I mean I am a big fan of your work too. I like the strength and the indepence that comes through I really like so see that from my sisters. I also owe you a world of thanks for helping me find my style as you well know I've tried many different approaches but you helped me see what fit me best.
