1. Jay-Z was one of the most powerful people coming out of that beef?!? Nicca please.
2. "Drop A Gem" isn't even top 10 on diss tracks.
3. WSCG used that same sample Blazhay used on "Do You Like Criminals". Did Blazhay (or anyone else) say anything? Nope...

1. We're glad NYC started this rap sh*t, because we like rap. We're hating that y'all hated us- so we had to getcha.
2. Where is tha west now? Still droppin' hot sh*t while y'all have to wait another full year for a Nas album, because he's the only person from the '93-'97 era still rapping who has not fallen the fucc off.
3. Yes you will always be in this rap sh*t, but that doesn't mean your sh*t will always be tight (like this year).
4. Back on topic, during the Bi-Coastal Beef y'all got served.

2. (In Your Opinion) Snoops' career went down, but his paper went up- and still is.
3. Subliminal diss tracks hold no weight. Say a name, biotches.

How can dropping a subliminal diss be clever? If you aren't familiar with Ny beef or politics, there is no way in the world you would know "kick in the door" was direct at Nas cuz biggie never said his name. Doing that tells me that 1. The beef isn't even a real beef its just fun and games or 2. You want to talk bad about the person but you want to do it in a way that flies below the radar, that way it won't draw the attention and the demand for a response, as would calling out that person's name.. Come on guys thats some female shyt....
HIt em up assassinated every rapper mentioned in that song because it was real. Say what you want about the lyrical depth of it... The man called these people out in a krazy way. Who wasn't bumpin that song?? The only song that had a similar impact/magnitude was Ether... Only because (metaphorically speaking) Nas was "knocked out" but some how got back up and won the fight in a convincing manner. He even used Pac's voice by the way "F*ck Jay-z"
The east started rap true indeed thats why the west payed ya'll homage... But in the end The west took The rap game 3 steps further, we taught ya'll how to get money. The east's best run wasn't as good as the west's best run, the soundscan will tell you that, think otherwise? Check it for yaself

We respond by constantly droppin heat on the rap game while the west coast is nowhere to be found.
Why did the thread go beyond this?
How sad it is that someone like JR Writer will have an album pop off long before the rest of the country gives a fluck about Crooked "I knew I should'nt have signed with Death Row" I

See, let me put it like this, the point of subliminal rhymes is just competition from an "i am lyrically nicer than you" angle, the point of name calling is, "I hate you as a person" or "i am looking for attention"...
Since most rappers who battle dont really have deep personal hatred and desire to kill each other, there really aint a point in calling out someone's name unless you are just looking for attention... i mean big and pac's and perhaps 50 and Ja's are the only "personal" beefs that i remember in hip hop... thats why its kinda crazy when you see all these guys talking crazy calling each other out swearing they going to start bucking on site and hate each other, and yet every other week the dudes are all at the same music industry events. to me subliminal beef is more amusing because it requires actual skill, and i already know the guys aint really personally upset about the incidents so why would i want to see them pretend to be all crazy...

why do you guys ignore these three facts
1) a bad boy mixtape was about to be released where the whole bad boy responds but pac died before its released
2) original long kiss goodnight
3) original drop a gem on em where pacs named is mentioned
4) lil kims freestyle over big mama thang
did u guys even hear any of these?
2ndly ..remember when jay dissed nas...takeover was on blueprint...nas waited till his album came out to release ether...was nas scared or was he trying to move more units for his album at the same time..
is it unfathomable to think biggie would of murked pac on life after death but pac died so he changed the lyrics to long kiss goodnight out of respect?

That's my problem with the whole thing.
The nicca won by default. Hit Em Up was only out for a couple months at the time.
If Jay died in November 2001, would these Niccas be running around saying Nas was afraid of Jay.. It's ridiculous.
All of the albums that would have been going @ Pac would have been released late 96 early 97.

See that's the thing why did it take so long for them to respond, we was makin diss tracks on the daily, either way I think Big should have said something, cause c'mon supposedly you New Yorkers are suppose to be the cream of the crop when it comes to rapping, but I guess we stole your thunder.

I heard biggie didnt want to diss pac like that, because he felt the whole thing as a publicity stunt, JM wanted to put a diss record out long time but Big was like nah...plus pac told him he only wanted to sell more records or something like that........
The whole east vs west thing was kind of necessary but it was blown out of proportion by the media.....we learned alot of things from it anyway....and it wasnt all about big and pac either

lol at how this thread turning into bad boy vs. death row real quik.... fact is the whole west was ****ting on the east... from ras kass telling the east to stop wit the gay subliminals to wsc straight telling the east to bow down...
so the east was getting sonned left and right... and to those fagss saying that big was holding back.... the fact that hitem up was bumping in all the rides on the east shouldve been a clue for that fat fuk to get off his ass and have a diss backk. pac put hitemup on a single... couldnt big have popped something off faster... probabally not cause he was shook cause pac diss wasnt a lyrical masterpiece but all the **** he was spitting was truth... that truth is hard to absorb for big but putting all that out there straighted made biggie into the lame duck rapper he was...
face it west rappers done knocked over ny bulidings... called out so called ny greatest rappers... they get punked everytime they step foot in west... hell even at there awards shows (source) snoop and death row straight shiitted on ny in public... all ny does back is sublimialy diss or Use that "im to big to fight" wack **** ...
ny lost not by a little but but got smoked
from the west coasts perspective the whole east west beef started with the east coast "our shyt dont stink" mentality. keep it real hella cats on the east had this attitude that we were pieces of shyt, that we had abc raps and couldnt rap at all. we got limited airpaly and when we finally did. the east was all butt hurt about it. the east was on some real hip hop shyt then. which was cool. but we kept hip hop live n kickin with that hard stuff. everybody in america wanted to be a g and sport a raiders hat. especially smalltown midwest usa. the east was so used to bein on top and that is the main reason now that the west dont get much luv now. the west fucced up alot of money for the east and so the east is like hell no we aint havin that again. so thats why its damn near impossible to blow from the west. we get no luv from mtv, bet which are east coast based. how many new arist have been debuted on 106 n park from the west in the past 3 yrs- with the exception of gorilla black. whens the last time u have seen a west coast video on mtv or bet w/o it bein from snoop or dre affiliated. is it cause we got a whole state of whack mc's? hell no. is it combination of fear of another west coast takover? maybe. but foolz seriously thing that the west dont put out good mcs and good muzic. why? pure ignorance and we are still grindin puutin out undergrouns shyt. like fucc everybody else. we understand that we aint gettin no airplay. video play so we grind-
we understand that we aint gettin no airplay. video play so we grind-
You know what I think is funny. A lot of these west coast dudes almost go gold independantly without selling in the USA hardly at all.

Sales equal good hip hop now? I guess Eminem and Tupac really are the two greatest MCs of all time. Crazy. Ill tell you what I've told Deeyo, alot of us on the westcoast could give a **** if anyone else likes the music. We like the music because it talks to us and is made with us in mind.

and yeah, drop a gem on em and NY NY are close in terms of lyricism and overall song. But NY NY'<a href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=11&k=s%20video" onmouseover="window.status='s video'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">s video</a> made the song a much better diss.
In terms of the Fantasy world of "Video's"
The LA, LA video was better, instead of a corny godzilla esque squashing of the city, DoggPound got kidnapped, dropped off the 59th Street Bridge and one jumped off the roof of a project...
Though that is moot cause Kurupt and Nore are close or whatever now.
Regardless, Pac didn't son no one with hit em up, he sounded like a cry baby, Real N*ggaz don't name names, and leave area for the police to question.
BTW, "Drop a Gem On Em" DEMORALIZED AND PISSED ON TUPAC with out even mentioning his name. Song was so ill no names had to be named, people just knew...

lol at how this thread turning into bad boy vs. death row real quik.... fact is the whole west was ****ting on the east... from ras kass telling the east to stop wit the gay subliminals to wsc straight telling the east to bow down...
so the east was getting sonned left and right... and to those fagss saying that big was holding back.... the fact that hitem up was bumping in all the rides on the east shouldve been a clue for that fat fuk to get off his ass and have a diss backk. pac put hitemup on a single... couldnt big have popped something off faster... probabally not cause he was shook cause pac diss wasnt a lyrical masterpiece but all the **** he was spitting was truth... that truth is hard to absorb for big but putting all that out there straighted made biggie into the lame duck rapper he was...
face it west rappers done knocked over ny bulidings... called out so called ny greatest rappers... they get punked everytime they step foot in west... hell even at there awards shows (source) snoop and death row straight shiitted on ny in public... all ny does back is sublimialy diss or Use that "im to big to fight" wack **** ...
ny lost not by a little but but got smoked
Thats another thing, NY did not "Back down" when Snoop and Suge said what they said at the Source awards. First of all Snoop looked like a baby who was mad because he was getting no love. I recall them getting boo'd off the stage, NY was in the house that night, maybe you were watching a different show. Your blowing sh*t way out of proportion...they had to play "Clap tracks" to cover up the boo's and anger at the Source Awards.
