Hahah California rap thrived off that corny ass drama. I never even gave a fuk about any of that bullsh*t. That sh*t sounds idiotic anyway cause we all know nobody gives a fuk about Oregon and Washington and yet they say westcoast when motherfukers really mean Cali and moslty LA.

S@#t my favorite producer of all time is Pete Rock and Rakim is my favorite rapper while Hiero is my favorite crew. I just wished these talented kats would go back to making quality music. Is that too much to ask?

nah i wish as a whole there was better quality standards in hiphop. even some of my childhood favs are starting to show a decline, and the # of quality new artists isnt making up for it. Rakim is my fav too, cant even get a record out because it didnt have "buzz" that makes me sick

uh oh
12-10-04, 04:57 PM
Double WOW!
so you're saying keep it thorough is a dope beat?
what part do you like best? the simple piano keys, or the gay voice sample? the horns are the only good part of that beat.

we gonn make it is the most overrated beat of all time, the violins are used all wrong

Keep Thorough is simple but bangs. Some of the best beats are simple. As for We Gon Make It that one is the only beat I agree with you on. Nice beat but overratted. But Worst Come To Worst is one of the best beats I've heard in a long time. If I recall Al was the first to sample Bell at that time and freaked it better than his peers. It did help to have Babu stratch the Mobb Deep sample. I like Alchemist's production you don't, oh well.

i like worst comes to worst, but just hearing the same sample so many times in other songs took away from it.

Naw just kats out here listen to s@#t no matter what region you from. I really didn't know about the NYC mentality until I went to Howard. Not everyone from NYC had this King mentality but the majority did. They would s@#t on music they never heard if it wasn't from NY, NJ or the Tri state area. I'd tried to up them on other s@#t but few would listen. I couldn't blame them back then cause the east as well the west was puttin out dope s@#t then. Can't say the same now.

This thread is a joke. It aint that serious everyone. You got kids from Kentucky talking **** on NY. You got kids from NY talking **** on California thinking they know what the deal is because they own The Chronic and Doggystyle. Soft this and soft that. There is not a big city the size of LA, Oakland, NY, etc that is terri cloth. 90% of you guys never been to either NY or the westcoast.

NY has its positives and negativies. California has its positives and negatives. LOL @ people arguing over "turf"......in your own city I could understand but theres 3000 miles seperating the two places.

Sure thing buddy, same goes for the east, who's "poppin them thangs" in new hampshire and rhode island?? John Kerry type N*ggas.... The West started this whole gangsta/thug/real n*gga rap image. Think about it, was anyone from Wu dissed?? no.. Was Rakim?? no.. What about De La, Tribe and so on, none of these people had shots directed at them because they were REAL.. Honestly until hit em up most people around the country(excluding ny) didn't even know who mobb deep were... Dropping subliminal disses is pretty pathetic if you ask me and Biggie was famous for that, only time he really called pac's name out was on Jay's sh*t, but to me that ain't even a diss cuz he's only confirming Pac f*cked his wife "if faith had twins she'd probably have 2 pac's" I lived in cali most my life and then lived in New york for 3 years, I found it hilarious to hear New york New York on the radio out there on hot 97, but i didn't even hear drop a gem on em until 2 years ago... Pac got shot in ny and lived, biggie got shot in L.A and died.. In the end Pac cleared it up in bomb first, its not about east and west... its a few guys against a few guys, and the few guys in the west were tearing those few guys from the east a new a$$hole in terms of disses, plus Ny's "king" was killed on enemy territory. New york new york, WSC sh*t on mobb deep and the New York's fakest, but Hit em up took it to a whole other level....

The West won at that time, once Pac and Biggie Died the East was winning and the West was comatose, but... this whole coastal popularity is cyclical,(hope the slow folks don't trip on that one) because now Vibe magazine is saying no one cares about East Coast rap. The East's last top "selling" rapper was put out by a West Coast N*gga... Say what you want about Jay-z but 50 sold alot more than him nuff said.. The mid west had their time, the south is currently having their time, and Once the Game drops the West will have their time again....

92-96 West won 97-01 East won 2002 - current south and midwest are winning....

I mean, shyt, if a rapper came at michigan somethin vicious and we didn't respond in a respectable way, i'd be ashamed.

Yall got sonned by

2pac
E-40
Dub C
Mac 10
Ice Cube [wsc hoed yall so bad on 'critics in ny']
Snoop
Daz
Kurupt
Suge Knight
and MORE

Worst cases:

2pac serving yall best rapper and entire city on hit em up
WSC destroying all NY media and fans on 'critics in NY'
WSC makin yall bow down
E-40 sonning AZ so bad he hasn't been sucessful since
Snoop kickin down yall buildings and fukkin yall rap game up for years
suge and snoop call yall whole city out in ny at the source awards and yall instantly back down

and how did yall respond?

"La La" ?

feel free to add on to the list, by the way

LOL, lets looked at this from an decent point of view

2pac-Dead
E-40-Wack, no career, even if hell froze over cause he is a fat useless piece of sh!t who can't rhyme
Dub C-Ghetto Heisman? More like Ghetto flop
Mac 10-Yeah, he is stuck beatin on T-Boz, and being wack
Ice Cube [wsc hoed yall so bad on 'critics in ny']-Switched to movies cause he got b!tched by Cypress
Snoop-Wacker than ever
Daz-Stuck talkin about swap meets instead of making any moves
Kurupt-Done
Suge Knight-Done
and MORE

Yall start a lot of trends and have a deep history more so than any city in America. That you should be proud of. But if you don't see the bias then I guess you are not trying too or don't want too.

You are right, I lived in Cali from 86 to 97. During that time period East coast rap and rappers got love from the people and especially from the radio stations. I moved to Ny from 97 to 2000, and I could count the times I heard ANY west coast music on my hand, if it wasn't for Dr Dre releasing 2001 (a classic album) then you wasn't gonna hear no type of West coast music in New York, and thats just from a N*gga that was there... There was alot of westcoast biased in the hip hop media and the radio stations, and I really believed thats where most of this beef started at least in regards to WestSideConnection and DPG, then it just got crazy when Pac got shot, but snoop said it at the vibe awards out there, the westcoast showed madd love to the east cuz the east started this rap sh*t but once the west started blowin up that cocky ny attitude came to play and the whole beef got started... All new york radio stations did at that time was play new york stuff, and hardly anything else, where as in cali, chicago (where i stay now) and other places around the country, they bump good music from all parts of the country...

Thats your personal opinion. If you think the westcoast hasnt put out good music since Pac died you are obviously so bias that it would be near impossible to have a real discussion with you about it.

As for ****ting all over the westcoast sound....the artists sure seem to like it. Westcoast artists are all over eastcoast records.

Remember...Schooly D may have been the first guy to shout out his crew on record but NWA made gangsta rap popular. That gangsta/rap crew thing you see with G-unit, D-Block, Bravehearts, Terror Squad etc was started by NWA.

Yall not good at the slick production. Leave that to the West. The grimey s@#t is where the East shines. Damn shame Primo can't get no love from NY mainstream rappers anymore. Dre or Cold 187(whoever you choose to believe) layed the blueprint for the dominant production we are hearing now. So basically East Coast Rappers are spittin over West Coast Style beats. I wish yall would go back to the grimey s@#t. Black Moon did it and it was lovely. NY mainstream is basically East Coast talk over a West Coast sound.

I wish people would understand that of course NY music appeals more to NYers just like westcoast music appeals more to people on the westcoast. See that's it. The East may had more classics but the West was selling more. Back then both coast were sellin while putting out classics and all around quality albums. Whose to say it's not the opposite now. You NY kats are bragging about watered down hiphop because it's sellin. I'm sorry but besides Nas no one on the East is selling records and making quality music. Jay-Z was, but I think his concentration is more on the business side. If you like the state of NY mainstream Hip Hop by all means keep enjoying it. But to me it sucks. It sucks that De la Soul, Ghostface, Pete Rock and Gangstarr all made quality hip hop albums and can't sell s@#t. When it comes to selling the East s@#ts on the West but are those albums that are selling, are they really anygood? Not when it's your A&R's album. His named should be on the front cover. well to be fair..the west coast "dominance" is kind of overexaggerated..

they sold the most because MTV jumped on the death row bandwagon at the time...

but in reality they have about 6 or 7 classics from that g funk era

chronic
doggystyle
dogg food
regulate

maybe like 2 or 3 i missed...now im talking about g-funk...NOT west coast from 87-96...just from about 92-96

lol i love this beef in here. and the east heads tryin to come back but missed the point. only mansell said somethin that holds weight.
some of yall misunderstood the topic of this thread: NY got served so bad by the west coast during the Bi-Costal Beef its a shock yall rep

so far the quotes of the thread are
Vincenzo_Corleone: New York New York
^^classic
ViSiON_1: man why would u bother to respond to a nobody?
west coast barely exists... it's an endangered species...
^^ the west coast has been shut down politically by the east media.
East st and ave: Snoop is a certifed ho now
^ understand the topic. "During the bi-coastal beef". no one gives a fucc about now. during that beef the west was still droppin heat but the east (hot 97) started blockin the west and only played the songs that sounded politically correct to the east. a song like ny ny is a classic. that dogg food album too is a classic too. but i cant expect a cat from the east to admit that. but that doesnt take away the fact that its still a classic (song and album). until today i play the dogg food album like its a new album.

Cores: Your most famous mc(Snoop) went almost a whole decade w/o putting out a hit record.
snoop's problem have nuthin to do with the bi-coastal beef. his problems are with suge. infact he's one of the most featured west coast artists. he's the one who talked most sh1t at the Source awards and look at him on all these east coast rappers albums: jadakiss's, banks, eric sermon's, the list goes on and on. its like snoop first half this year could make a 'featured" album off the east coast songs alone.
when they was standing and honoring for Run DMC at the awards all death row people were seated. that to me was the most gangsta moment in hip-hop.

Cores: The west coast is still in the shadow of NYC. Get over it.
as a coast the west has always been in the shadow of the east. but the east got served and used the industry muscle to shut down the west.

JMurder: Entire west coast buying east coast sh!t = West Coast lost
East Coast not being able to name 10 of today's West Coast rappers = West Coast lost
i love the west and cant name 10 west coast artists. i can name south and east artists. i dont think i can even name 5 michigan artists and this is my home. and thats is not the west or michigan's problem. its fuccin BET (freestyle friday) and MTV and these magazines.

Man can't take anymore of this candy @ss music.

well to be fair..the west coast "dominance" is kind of overexaggerated..

they sold the most because MTV jumped on the death row bandwagon at the time...

but in reality they have about 6 or 7 classics from that g funk era

maybe like 2 or 3 i missed...now im talking about g-funk...NOT west coast from 87-96...just from about 92-96

and in that same time frame..just off the top of my head

36 chambers, ready to die, illmatic, dah shinin, only built, redmans albums, bunch of other ones....

I think you misunderstood what I meant. I wasnt saying NY didnt have 10 or so classic albums in that time frame.....they did. I can name a grip just by digging thru my crates. I have alot of the albums from then. What I was saying is that they didnt have 10 MORE classics than the West at the time. The West dominated sales/attention....as for dominating all of hip hop musically, nah. Hip hop all around, coast to coast, was just alot better then.

If you look at both coasts....**** there was alot of GREAT albums put out in that time period.

lol i love this beef in here. and the east heads tryin to come back but missed the point. only mansell said somethin that holds weight.
some of yall misunderstood the topic of this thread: NY got served so bad by the west coast during the Bi-Costal Beef its a shock yall rep

so far the quotes of the thread are

TRUE, All eyes on me outsold all those classic east coast albums dude listed before, and thats just pac alone.....

92-96 west won

oh and i didn't even includ dre's snoops ice cubes as well as warren g's and wsc's and dpg's albums all certified 3x platinum and more during that period... all classics too

u also forgot how every east cat has to send subliminals or have the excuse that states "there too small time or nobody for me to respond" in response to theire cats getting sonned on wax....

he for deeyo, all jay had to do was say it on wax... he had songs about him dissing him... why? cause he was talking on wax as if he a gang member or some dumb ****.... only beef jay z gonna get involved are the arraanged beef wit nas he cooked up... thats how ny do it they arrange and plan their beef before so no one gets hurt.....
just tha fact that ur greatest rapper got shot by west coast cats in response to the beef should tell u ny lost....

Too Short, Spice 1, MC Eiht, DJ Quik were also sellin gold or plat while E-40 was sellin gold on independent s@#t. Since you mentioned Dah Shinin which didn't sell a lot the West had 93 Til Infinty, Inner City Griots, Bizarre Ride to The Pharcye, 21 and Over, Fear Itself, No Need For Alarm and etc. The point I'm trying to make is that during 92-96 the West and East were both selling records while also puttin out classic and quality albums. Just the West was sellin more. I'm glad I don't limit myself to just West Coast music I would missed out on the classic s@#t from other regions.
