"Mercy Killing" with the "Revengs of the Nerds Radio Ad" skit that were released on the website a while ago and can be found on 7L & Beyonders "Vinyl Thug Music" LP was the last word to Winnie the Pooh and them as far as I know. The CD came out in February and I havent seen anything since so I guess thats it.

When El-P was first establishing Def Jux Records and 7L&Esoteric sent their demo. Rumor has it (and these are only rumors) that 7L and Eso were literally begging.
You can't beg a person to get on, and after his boy, in an unconnected incident disses you, suddenly you want to diss the whole crew and you hate them and aren't feeling them. That's lame. Esoteric talks mad trash and he can't even rap. if it weren't for 7L's cuts, that Sole Purpose would be complete trash.
Basically, they wanted to be down with El-P of Company Flow fame and got denied.
Then they wanted to be down with Cage and got straight dissed because that cat doesn't have a track record for being too respectful.
Suddenly, they want to go to war.
BTW, Demigodz fell apart right after this.

I don't think that time lines up. Eso admits to sending him a demo but said it was in 94. Def Jux wasn't close to be created at that point was it? I didn't think it came about until after Funcrusher and that was on Rawkus. Who doesn't send their demo to everyone they can when they are starting out? That was almost a decade before this sh*t started.
Where did you get them ever wanting to be down with Cage, of all people? Cage dissed first cause he likes to run his mouth on his website. If Eso wanted to be down with any of the DefJux cats all he had to do was have Lif introduce him. Lif is still cool with them all(AOTP) so it wouldn't have been hard.

I did NOT know that.
Regardless, it's still possible and probable that they sent in an updated demo/sampler/whatever in 2000 when El-P was setting up to deal with artists as a label head. In any case, the beef really wasn't over the whole demo/rejection thing. That part probably went down civil-like. (Note, both have shouted one another out on album linar notes. Don't ask why I read that shht).
In any case, the beef started because of Cage--obviously; when has Cage been involved in anything that he himself didn't start--running off his mouth, telling people they're wack and such. It was more against 7L but, crew rolls together so the Demigodz ended up jumping into it, and when they jumped Cage, that brings Weathermen all jumping into it, and bam. There you have it.
