Slow Dance
A summer in Madrid –
Museo del Prado, La Terraza
now she rolls the R in Raphael
till her tongue does somersaults.
Sours, wines, and malts
even the sun
would halt
just to taste her on the move.
Paris misses you –
no adieu
only a golden brushstroke against a royal blue canvas
no postcard describe your
vibe...
la ville de la lumière
pictures taken as you
awaken France,
laughing at
(siestas)
the Tower of Pisa, you
lean on no one.
Nowadays, she paints
Memphis. 180 seconds at a time
news, weather, sports
fuse ever short
you’re-not-the-boss-of-this
graceful firecracker
stealing spotlight
behind cameras.
Flight 143 cracks the fog
descending upon a strech of rain-slickened runway
dull grey stains what little remains of Monday
No omen –
I prayed on Sunday
for you and
you alone.
Headphones groan the tones of a young Nina Simone
as my hands press against the looking glass
raindrops I peer past
watching the plane stop,
hoping your pain stops
wanting to see you
breathe.
Capture her silhouette
strolling the corridor,
sure-stepped
even along the darkened path.
She greets with a flash of teeth,
lips curled upward at the world
melting the frost off December.
I’m not who she remembers
She’s not who I tried to forget.
She’s scared. I miss her.
Promise to be by her side
she hardly shows inside
you have to listen to her voice.
Circumstance fancies a slow dance
and so she rests her head on my shoulder,
souls now older,
world now colder,
we hold each other
she follows my lead.

There are several ways to get your work copywritten...

Its quite the coincedence that you ask that question. Within the next couple of months I should have a site up for my poetry, and also have a site up for my music.
'preciate you for asking...makes me wanna keep writing.

You made her almost like a spirit. Like you are clenching a feeling. She seems so vibrant and full of life but yet she doesn't seem to be human. Of course that is my take on her. You must have been in that mood or maybe you saw someone who made such an impression on you. I'm not really good with concepts so you must bear with me. But I am extremely interested. You create this world around me and I love your use of places, you make this tapestry of a woman so versitle she seems, I must say again, like a spirit.
Really I would like to know more. Enlighten me please..... You have struck my interest, and it doesn't happen much.
Also I would like to know, What was your inspiration for "The story of him and her" I really like that one as well.

This is a girl that I really used to have a thing for back in the day (we went to prom together), but we're just friends now...she graduated, took a trip to Europe, had a great time and then came back to the states and got a job as an assistant producer of a news-cast in Memphis. She then found out that she had thyroid cancer :(. I wrote her "Slow Dance" to comfort her because she was coming back home to have surgery to remove the cancer. I wanted her to know I'd be there for her.
My inspiration for "the story of him and her"...lol. I got swung at (yes, fists) by a young lady (hispanic) that I used to date who thought I had smacked her bootie...lol. Anyway, she thinks I did it, so she swings on me several times, then her friends hold her back. I couldn't help but laugh because I couldn't believe this was happening in the club - to me. I was tired and I had just come back from doing a show, so I didn't really feel like fighting with her...she cussed me out...then called my boys cell to cuss me out. It was crazy. I ended up talking to her that night though on the phone and we worked out all of our differences from the past. And I mean what it boiled down to is that we still cared for each other and both of us had too much pride to admit it, so we communicated our care with negative energy. Anyway, when I was writing, I was just thinking about how sometimes you can go out with someone, but wish you were with someone else. How your current someone can just be a replacement for whom you would rather be with...
