Rating threads - a suggestion

i understand that the thread rating privileges were taken way because of one start movement and other fukkery.

what if you had requirements to have rating privileges like you do with the search feature?

so example, a poster would have to be here for a year and have over 5000 posts to be able to rate a thread. that would prevent aliases and gimmick posters from ruining it. ofcourse the requirements could be different.

that isn't a bad idea, and i will pass it along for discussion.

however, we already know firsthand that many of the people who abused the rating system were well-established members of the forum who were otherwise well-behaved. the rating system provides anonymity, and that is the crux of the problem.
