get a resistance band, they change your shape. If you're gonna use weights, do lower weight higher reps. You can take supplements if you want.

Toning up.... is simply increasing muscle mass and decreasing body fat. There's no specific training style that "tones" you up. Low weight high reps won't do **** but improve your muscular endurance. Lol@ a resistance band. Just lift some weights, do some cardio, and eat clean. You don't need supplements but it will help.

I can see resistance band being better for cost, injury concerns (which can be eliminated by using proper form on weights), space issues, and convenience. But how does a resistance band help you in shaping your body better than free weights? It's like comparing a tv dinner to a real meal. If you're gonna spend time and energy working out, why not do it the right way?

wider range of motion so it reaches more muscles.

And usually weights just make you thick.

That doesn't make any sense. What is "more muscles" supposed to mean?

And of course weights make you thick, that's what resistance training is supposed to do. Like I said, "toning" means increasing muscle mass and decreasing body fat. You combine resistance training & cardio to accomplish those 2. Resistance bands won't make you thick cuz they don't do much for hypertrophy.

Seriously tho, I can't believe I'm even having this debate of free weights vs. freaking resistance bands.

lol resistance bands

ya if you're trying to rehab yourself

otherwise just workout with weights with short rest periods if you're aimin to loss weight and condition your muscles

compounds lifts, etc

Starting Strength workout is pretty easy

p90x if you trynna workout at home

both give you good idea of fundamentals

look, they worked for me, I know how to use them effectively...if you wanna use nothing but weights then go ahead.

you need to be banned from this forum

but like others have said...get a regular routine going (I like Starting Strength) and do HIIT....keep your protein high and keep the calories a little bit below maintence

I agree with most heads here. Eat a good diet, add cardio, and do weights in the 6-8 rep range. Make sure it is a weight that you reach failure at 6-8, not a weight that you can do 12 times but settle for 8.
